I loved the part where atrioc says “I am the Atrioc!” and started coffee cowing all over the place😂😂😂

I like it when games make increasing the difficulty also increase the rare item drop chance

27:58 As a rock climber I think a lot of the issues can be explained through climbing because the route doesnt care what your weaknesses are. It doesnt care what your physiology is. It simply presents itself as a problem to be solved through raw strength, technique, physiological advantages or your specific style. 10 different climbers will climb a route 10 different ways and the rocks do not care theyre just there whether youre good enough or not

when Atrioc mentioned lies of P not being a stream game my mind instantly went to NL and his coverage of the game and how enjoyable it was to watch, then he mentioned it lol

the thing with highly customizable difficulty is that it works well for games that benefit from it like Civ 6 games or Stellaris, strategy/grand strategy games.

I love playing most games on the high difficulties especially when that brings new mechanics to the enemies making them harder that way or making the AI smarter. I can also accept enemies just straight up doing more dmg to point of them one tapping me like in most shooters, however I hate when a higher difficulty means the enemies become bullet sponges which also happens in a lot of shooters. So when it comes to shooters you often get enemies that one taps you, but will take whole magazines to take down, which makes games with those difficulties extremely unfun.

I’ve never understood wanting to play on the hardest difficulty.

When I’m racing, I’m racing to win. Not eke out a photo finish by taking every corner perfectly.
When I’m fighting, I want to take on entire armies solo, leave no one standing using my favourite weapons. Not to sit behind cover waiting for my health to regen so that I can pop my head out to take down one or two guys before being forced to take cover again.

Maybe it’s just me but I play games to have fun and I don’t find most* hard games to be game.
*Dark souls and souls likes are hard and fun but that’s the only exception.

honestly i'd take a job as a professional loser, just barely giving the enemy enough of a challenge but knowing i don't have to win sounds so chill

There is kind of a secret difficulty in Destiny 2. There is something called Solo Flawless in their dungeons. A typical activity that takes 3 players to beat. You load up into it solo. And the whole point is to get through every encounter without dying. In a single sitting. You can't leave and come back. If you leave or die, challenge is over.
The best part is is that the only reward you get from doing this is typically a special emblem. Which is a banner behind your name.

I understand a game deciding to have a flat difficulty. I think the two best options outside of that (for most games) is quiet, subtle adjustments or having some sliders in an accessibility tab.

big respect for these videos you are the coffee cow disciple

Having difficulty options being a problem is so overblown these days

To his point around minute 43, I distinctly remember some of the most fun I've had in a game being in Xenoblade Chronicles X and just exploring way out of my level range. You can get to the near end area very early if you put in the effort, so I just spent hours scouting around, picking up little scraps of loot I could safely get to, and stealthing around enemies that would obviously whoop me. It's fun being able to make your own challenges like that.

Razbuten is a channel everyone should check out if they’re AT ALL interested in how games work! And obviously everyone already knows his how a non gamer looks at games vids

Make a Pokemon game where the Trainer's teams are other real players teams that are of that progression. I know somehow some people are going to figure out how to break it and give them level 99 Pokemon but I don't care gimme it NOW.

The solution to the exploration vs challenge problem of Elden ring is to diversify your character's skills. I felt the game starting to get too easy for this same reason, so I just added a whole new facet to my character. I was a str-int build with big sword and spells, and when I over leveled I would put some into faith to have some lower level incantations that had me enjoy a whole nother playstyle. Sure I wasn't a mainline incantation user, but I got to have a taste of it and that felt great. And I wasn't pumping my main stats too high to compensate.
Highly recommend doing this in Elden Ring.

I introduce to you: dynamic difficulty!
You don't choose anything - the game gathers data on how youre doing, and adjusts itself based on that

The worst one was Mafia the car racing mission. I definitely had to lower and then raise the difficulty. That was so damn annoying!

Most games I play are story-based, so I leave it on the default difficulty setting, which is usually labeled normal or medium. While I appreciate adaptive difficulty, I understand why some people won't like it, and just like with most things, there should be an option to turn it off and on. I do really enjoy when a game doesn't have difficulty settings though as I can just play without worry.

The fact the cod speedrun was actually just doing the level really fast was so gratifying, you hear 8 second speedrun and you assume its gonna be a dumb glitch
