All depends on what state you live and the building code..Cinderblock/Concrete homes in Florida for Hurricanes. Wood built Homes are for Earthquake prone areas like CA so they can flex and move with the shaking.

As a retired Building Inspector in California, I can tell you a brick house is not what you want in an earthquake.

it blows my mind that window screens arent a normal thing in Europe, it crazy to think about opening my windows and bugs can just fly right in

Many of those centuries old structures in Europe would fall like Jenga pieces in our tornados, hurricanes or earthquakes.

I have something better than a pool. I have a neighbor with a pool.

Air-conditioned air is FILTERED

My home was built in 1908. Stroms heat wet cold earthquakes. It's still standing.

What Europeans don’t realize is, our air conditioners have filters in the unit. When the air is recirculatied from around the house and back into the air conditioning system, it is filtered by filters like HEPA filters that makes the air cleaner. So while you have the AC on, the air is not stale as it’s always being circulated and filtered by the air conditioning system’s internal filter. Probably better than smelling all the outside air pollutants

I was a carpenter for 40 years I built houses and commercial buildings they are not inferior dwellings they move in earthquakes which makes the safer

Wood framing lets us pack wall cavities with spray foam or fiberglass, making it far better insulated than solid concrete. Wood also flexes in high winds instead of shattering like brick. The US builds this way because we have endless managed lumber, while countries like the UK and Ireland deforested their native timber centuries ago.

Europe: So superior that our ancestors exhausted their savings and risked months of disease and death to flee across the ocean to face an uncertain future.

In California, our houses are built to withstand earthquakes. See San Francisco earthquake of 1989 and Northridge earthquake of 1994. The homes and buildings with the MOST damage were made of brick and mortar

One thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of Europeans they marvel at our houses, the beauty of them and everything that’s in them, but they very rarely go into the nuts and bolts of the actual construction of the house or building. They always say that their not built very well when they’re more than likely don’t have any idea about how they’re built in the technology that has put into them in the way that they are built. I used to be an electricians helper. The technology that goes into the actual house construction to a European or more than likely be beyond belief. Second of all, you have to consider that if you build something very rigid with the types of winds that we have more than likely, it will get blown over and broken. You have to use materials that are flexible so that the structure will withstand the wind. There’s a 22 story tower in my hometown of Lubbock, Texas called Metro Tower. With Lubbock was hit by an F5 tornado back in May 11 in 1970. It twisted the tower slightly, but it did not knock it down. The tower is still standing today and is still occupied. So don’t tell me that our buildings and houses are terribly constructed. As a result of that tornado Texas Tech university here in Lubbock, Texas, starting their wind engineering and research facility. With the things that they’ve learned at that facility construction around the country as Ghana exponentially in terms of quality. Look it up. You’ll see what I’m saying.

Food waste goes to the same place that your 💩 goes. It doesn’t matter how your house is build, an EF5 tornado will grind it to sand. France learned that this year and it was just an EF3.

The idea you can't put food waste down the drain is wild. What does the government think a toilet is for?

Just an anecdote… we just had an EF1 tornado hit part of the city where I live. It’s an older neighborhood so 95% of the houses are brick. That EF1 ripped down over two dozen brick chimneys and 3-4 brick houses had part of a wall collapse. Also bricks were picked up by the wind and a number of neighbors windows were shattered by flying bricks. So the “myth” of brick and stone houses being impregnable gets shot down.

Tornadoes  love to hurl bricks😂

Tornadoes will destroy brick and stone just as easily as they lift trains up in the air.
And brick and stone structures collapse fast in earthquakes.

Check out the tornado videos from France, those euro houses were destroyed.  First it sent the roof tiles flying like missiles, then destroyed everything in and around the houses...same as in the US Don't get a false sense of security ✌😎

Gun deaths statistics also include death by suicide.
