As a property manager in a wealthy area, I can tell you why rich people buy lights with impractical / hard-to-source bulbs: because THEY are never going to change it themselves and they don't care how hard it is for "the help" to do it.

Nerd here: Travertine is actually a type of mined stone. So the floor is cold, slippery when wet, unyielding when you fall on it (there is some give with wood at least), and extremely expensive. Just the thing a rich person would want to throw their money away on. Second house is definitely the Eyes Wide Shut manor.
