What happens when the lights go out for the last time? Do our minds continue on in the form of a soul, or is it nothing but blackness and we have no idea we are even there? The concept is interesting and frightening as despite all of our technology and advancements, we still have no clue what happens. This idea, has plagued the people that inhabited Polis as well. In the events of Scorn, a parasite is born out of attempting to reach a higher state of consciousness. But why? Lets discuss that in todays episode!

Thank you for watching Roanoke Gaming and I hope you enjoy Scorn's Consciousness Parasite That's NEVER EXPLAINED...Until Now

Scorn is one of those games that when someone tries to explain it. It just creates more questions. I would love to see Roanoke do a deep dive on most, not all but most of the species in the game. Lore brain wants answers, but gamer brain sees gun, sees blood. Then hails the blood god.

Most of Scorn is explained in the art booklet. You should read it if you haven't already. The person that wakes up at the start is the parasite recounting what happened previously, that is to say that the humanoid you play as after getting covered in all that sperm, went through a mutation and became the parasite. The game truley begins when you are born out of the genesis wall

3:40 Missed opportunity to say "Genetic information is stored in the walls"

I'm impressed you're trying to explain this without consuming copious amounts of mind-altering substances.

I'm reminded of a quote from a TV show, but I have trouble recalling it so to paraphrase: "The brain controls the body, and it deserves a luxurious and comfortable ride."

My theory is that the crater queen and her creatures stem from the wall, which contains not only humanoid genetic information but of other creatures as well which is why crater creatures have wings and hooves and such. There was a bug in the code which ended up mixing everything and birthing the queen who has humanoid features as well.

Hmm yes the floor here is made out of floor

When I played it, it was my head canon that everything was human. Maybe one of those schemes for elevation included replacing all life and technology with modified human life. It also possible that humans were all that was left in a world they neglected or destroyed.

I like to imagine Scorn to be kind of like Agony but instead of all of Hell its just one specific corner with all the bodies being of the same person constantly being born, chased around and dying only to be reborn and the process repeats itself infinitely.

If warframe has taught me anything, everything in this game probably is or is grown from the body of a genetically modified human

Scorn reminds me a lot of Rain World. You’re a funky bioengineered creature that has to navigate a world abandoned by your precursors (who decided to collectively ascend to a higher plane of existence because they thought the world was too boring or whatever) ultimately culminating in you trying to ascend yourself.

oh please cover more Scorn, that game ended too soon. Scorndude was the hero we all needed.

Not sure if this has been brought up but the character in the beginning wasn't attached to the wall. That's the character who was drowned in the goo after the canister broke who then morphs into the parasite that attaches to the 2nd playable character if that makes sense.
