I love documentaries, especially when its about animals or ancient history, but I have to say that I really love the way you do it. All the info one would get from any other documentary, but with a lot of humor. Excellent work dude, thoroughly entertaining.

Uh for clarification beyondthegreen, the south American short face bear wasn't 35,000 lbs, that would make it over 16 tons and heavier then most t rexs and be one of the largest mammals ever, it was more like 3,500 lb or 1.6 tons, other then the typo, love the video

One shouldn’t go too far down that “adaptability and geberality uber alas” route. Those are only advantages when faced with inconsistency and unpredictability, or at least any one source being not enough to sustain you so you need to multiclass (which then means you depend on every egg in multiple baskets). It’s why things specialize in the first place: they put compared the generalists when things were stable and predictable, and many generalists never lived to see the changes which would have made them thrive in the chaos.

@17:50 Actually a few other reasons come too mind. Like the Missoula floods definitely wiped out many creatures of that time. Other asteroid impacts happening in north america could've played a roll in decimated more creatures.

I suspect early humans stole prey from predators in the same way. Standing up as we do, we are surprisingly intimidating. As for the bear itself, solitary, it would have been sorry if it stole a kill from a group of humans. We cooperate, use tools and hold grudges.
