given the state of the world it's sort of relieving that the amazon is so hostile

Still easier than the path my grandparents took to get to school.

JAGUAR: Meh. I'll just wait till the human dies. Should only be around 10 to 15 minutes...

I'll never forget seeing a guy on 60 minutes one time who searched for plants that could be used and he was walking through an Ecuadorian rainforest and spotted a plant hed never seen anywhere else in 50+ years. Imagine how much of that is hiding in the midst of this monster. Not only that but how many animals and history is hidden inside

Perfect place to drop politicians in

Still easier than aquiring home ownership in 2026

Considerimg the amazon supplies 40% percent of the oxygen on earth...I am very grateful humans can't interfere.

This jungle is stripping me of my God-given right for a Walmart parking lot.

I did 6 weeks of jungle training in the Marines at Ft. Sherman in Panama. The jungle is no joke. Black Palms, real-life quicksand (I thought it was only in cartoons), the "kissing bug", deet  resistant mosquitos, spider webs 8 feet in diameter with a hand sized spider in the middle, spider monkeys that DGAF, holes in the foilage covered ground that have fatal drops, hack through some brush next step is off a cliff, the place starts making noise at sunrise that would have you like "we're going in there?". Crazy place.

I live in Ecuador, in 2023 I spent two weeks in the Reserva Naturale Cuyabeno in the province of Sucumbios. Everything said in this video is true, everything is on the river banks, even local tribes don't venture deep in the forest, we went on an expedition about a mile deep in the jungle at day and at night, it's terrible, at night you have all kinds of creepy crawlers on the forest floor you can actually say that it's a bug carpet on the floor and at daylight, it's not much better as it is so dense that you barely see 50' ahead it is also hot and humid. Our guide kept telling us not to touch anything, mainly trees as there's insects hiding within the bark cracks and you can end up being bitten or stung by something that is not gonna be very nice. It was dry season and still it rained 80% of the time, you get wet, your clothes never dry up, after a few days you have mold everywhere, backpacks, boots, clothe, sleeping bags. The scenery change completely when it's flooded and when it's dry, it's a green hell. I'm glad I experienced it because I saw beautiful birds, sloth, monkeys, Caimans, Tarantulas, Boas, Anacondas, wild Orchids and many other things but two weeks was enough.

That's what makes Juliane Koepcke's story so unbelievable. In 1971, she was a lone survivor of a plane crash (LANSA Flight 508) dropped literally in the middle of the Amazon, from 10,000 feet, strapped to her chair. She spent 11 days travelling through the rain forest until she found a lumberjack camp. Injured & without food & water. This video makes me appreciate her story even more, in fact I'd classify it as a miracle.

It's not just potential civilizations, but very likely one of the last places on Earth (outside of deep parts of oceans) where we may still find medium-sized (or bigger) animal species that have yet to be discovered.

I would need a fusion-powered armored suit completely covering every inch of my body.  With air conditioning.

Crazy that we can map Mars but there are still parts of Earth we basically can't reach. The Amazon is unreal.

I lived in Brazil near the forest, there were this small mosquitos that bite off your skin. It gets swollen for weeks, super painful. I cant imagine what could be staying deep in the amazonas.

Imagine a horror movie where death row inmates are executed by  being parachuted deep into the Amazon rainforest

My friend got into Amazon last year and went pretty deep but is now trapped. He is a software engineer.

Is it weird that I’m glad there’s still one place on Earth where nature is still winning? I trust the jungle to sustain life on its own. I cannot say the same for mankind.

I knew a guy from Ecuador. He told me that on his 18th birthday him and his mates decided they would, "go up the Amazon," if you were to say it in English. They were wearing only their swim shorts and sandals (lol), and didn't make it very far. He said they got to a point when they had left their town behind and things were getting truly wild, and one of his mates pulled him back. They stopped, looking down the river and saw what appeared to be a big log blocking the way. He ran his eye across the log, going from the back to the front, and suddenly realised there was a giant yellow eye looking at him. What they were seeing was an anaconda, just lying across the river, which even at this point was more of a stream compared to how we know how big it gets. He showed me a picture and to be honest I couldn't really make it out due to the bad quality, but the environment looked totally wild and unmolested. It really must be another world in there.

19:50 "We don't own it. It belongs entirely to nature" - thanks God for that
