Description:In this video, I compare The Phantom of the Opera across three versions: Gaston Leroux’s original novel, the 1986 Andrew Lloyd Webber stage musical, and the 2004 film adaptation. I explore how each version handles key characters, story events, and themes, and where they diverge in tone and intent.

1:03:08 “I need her to make people think I’m a ghost and not a VIRGIN” is the best summary of Phantom of the Opera I’ve ever heard in my LIFE

It's worth mentioning that apparently even in 1925 the Persian subplot was so insane that in the silent film his character was just made to be an undercover police officer.

"Gamle Erik", swedish for "Old Erik" is actually an old name for the Devil here in Sweden. Maybe that's why the phantom calls himself Erik.

Me, who has never watched/read any of the Phantom books, operas, movies, musicals: "Fascinating video"

This was the most random recommendation but the editing? The dolls? The DEDICATION. Instant subscribe, I'll make popcorn for the sequel

How dare you drop a few Love Never Dies clips here and there as jumbscares

You joke about the rich taking people in as pets but they did legit do that. Like theyd collect artists, house them in their backyard and you would be expected to create whatever they wanted

Bro if I found out that my magical music instructor was just a guy and he kidnapped me and then let me go, I would go to the police, quit opera, and flee the country

In the movie the ring Erik gave Christine was actually the engagement ring Raoul gave to her. He stole it during the Masquerade confrontation and repurposed it. That's why it's so pretty.

I am undoubtedly a Hadley Fraser lover, even as Raoul, but even I can't defend the "red scarf" pronunciation after hearing it so many times 😂😂

Sorry to this sewer dwelling man but I listened to All I Ask of You on a compilation CD as a child and it Raoul-pilled me.

The thought of Madame Giri just being in a room full of boxes is so funny

I’m sick in bed with influenza and this video has lifted my spirits so much. I’m only 22 minutes in and I’ve laughed more in that time than I have in the past four days, thank you! Your tongue-in-cheek humor and witty editing barely gives me a minute to breathe before I’m laughing again at the next joke.

This was oddly hilarious. Poor Gerard lol "...darkness deep as heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeääääääääääälll" - well, if you sing it to me that way... lmao. And the "percussion-number maybe" remark. Killer lol

Am I crazy or is this an actual quality video that landed in my newsfeed!? My crops are watered and my skin is nourished

@elise2920 1 year ago

the editing for the book portions and also just the entire video is incredible!!!!! so fun and engaging i feel like the stereotype with long youtube videos is that they’re just background noise but i’ve been locked in and glued to the screen every time i get the chance to continue this video!!! thank you so much for all the hard work you clearly put into it!
