Pokémon Yellow is a flawed game. Charming, but riddled with bugs and unpleasant little quirks unique to the 1st generation of Pokemon. That's where Yellow Legacy comes in. By fixing glitches, improving difficulty, and updating the classic Pokemon gameplay while staying true to the original, Pokemon Yellow Legacy claims to be the definitive, "perfect" version of the Game Boy Color classic. And what better way to put that claim to the test than with a Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge?

📝Rules for this run:
1. Fainting = Deadge
2. Can only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area. If catch fails, the encounter is missed
3. Nickname all caught Pokémon
4. Play on "Set" battle mode
5. No items in battle (held items don't exist in Gen 1)
6. Cannot exceed the level of the next gym leader's strongest Mon (level caps)

Badge boost glitch is why you outsped Alakazam with Snorlax. Badges gives you a 12.5% boost to a respective stat, Koga gives Speed. This boost is reapplied whenever a stat change is preformed on all stats boosted by a badge. As such your speed was around 2.28 times higher than normal. This isn't applied in PvP only PvE which is likely why the calculator you used didn't take that into account. you were at least twice as a fast as that Alakazam after having your Special changed 6 times.

A thing that's cute about Yellow Legacy is how a number of trainers are based off of ones from the anime. I genuinely thought that was just how the base game was, but nope, stuff like the Pinsir and Metapod trainer in Virdian were added for the hack.

I love all the slice of life edits. Making the Pokemon thumbnails the character, the character flash screens on critical hits, the little comedy bits for the move descriptions, not to mention all the small editing quirks.

18:50 talking to your Pikachu in rock tunnel will have Pikachu light up the room for you for a moment. It's better than having a pokemon stay poisoned, since your team can stay healthy

7:52 because of the way the game is programmed, they only check if the the first hit of a multihit move is a critical hit. If it is, then all hits on that turn are a crit. So that was essentially a 10 hit move

37:40 its the Badge boost glitch, all badge boosts are Re-applied in calculation EXCEPT the stat interacted with by a move like Amnesia, Growl, or Harden

I think the only way Pac-Man could’ve outspeed Sabrina is with the badge boost

In gen 1 the boost whenever the Pokemons stats are raised and you got the speed boost from Koga, which is 12.5% multiplier, and re-applying it would’ve made it move almost 60% faster
