the reason i pronounce it blam instead of blame is because thats what it was intended to be pronounced as. the author has stated the title to be the sound effect of killys gun "blam" but translating that from japanese to english they accidentally added an extra e. you can pronounce it however you want but thats why i pronounce it the way i do.

A man's quest to find the wifi password for over millions of millenias

fun thought. its speculated humans inhabit the city in the trillions and youd still walk your entire life never seeing another person.

For context: 8 million hours is 912 years.

I think the way the clones sustained themselves was by cannibalizing the baby clones which is a creepy thought

Got these for my birthday, in the first volume Killy finds an ancient looking book, he reads a passage in the book with a word he doesn't understand. The word was "Land." He asked out loud what Land was.

One thing that tripped me out when i first started reading Blame was that the MC is a robot. He doesn't have a human's understanding of time and how limiting it is. The expanses he has to walk before seeing any sort of life are likely absolutely absurd. He could be walking for a century in between each chapter. I remember one elevator ride taking him 3 months. In that entire time everything is changing and his chances of finding the terminal genes are likely getting infinitesimally small.

Blame is one of the most beautifully drawn mangas ever.

Its all those automated unthinking processes in Blame that make me uncomfortable. Im pretty sure most of these were based on processes that made sense at one time, but now things have spiraled so completely out of control you have all these unintended, almost random nightmarish horrors as a consequence
Great video!

BLAME is the Matrix 2000, where the world has no more resources and it is now expanding towards the stars to feed.

Killy is in a tragic situation. With the exceptions of Cibo and his driving goal of turning the machinery off, he's emotionally dead inside. He's been here so long, he can't imagine anything else.

one thing thats interesting in BLAME! is just how many moving parts there are in the story despite time in the story not being restricted to a single lifetime. the mc could be walking for hours in the end of one chapter and the next hes actually been walking for DECADES.

The baby making machine is so unbelievably creepy

The concept of humans building something to serve them, but now just live in the shadow of it, as it just builds itself bigger and bigger and bigger, with no goal or purpose beyond just that, stepping on anyone getting in the way of that, reminds me of the modern State.

When I talk about Blame! to people, I call it Kafkaesque Cyberpunk

Ya boy straight up walked a staircase to Jupiter

BLAME! With correct pronunciation too this knows ball

I think part of what makes this series so eerie is the existential dread of the idea of being trapped in an infinite structure from which there's no escape which kinda reminds me of Samsara.

About Toha.
Its not part of the city, its a ship which returned to it after a long travel to only find itself surrounded by the ilogical architecture. What youve seen is the space-time distortion engine which it uses to travel on space. FTL and stuff.
Given that the city had not authority on a private company ship it arranged an agreement with Toha's IAs to be still and quite to avoid damage and deaths. Given the fast expansion of the city, if they retried to warp out of it is very likely it teleports in the middle of an structure (which is, what happens and shows the dimensions of how big it is that not even the warping range cant escape). Also why Killy cant use his gun and why Sanakan cant regain control of Cibo's occupation is because theyre out of their jurisdiction and have no right to act as always the Toha's IAs keep their word.
They didnt, and everything blew up. Good thing is, there was people onboard with net terminal gen and was given to Killy by the IA.

As a footnote, electrofishers are descendants of humans who left the Toha ship. They shrunk because of either evolution or generational malnutrition given the scarce resources (theyre hunter-gatherers).

I always thought Blame would have made a great souls-like game adaption

this guys eyes are so far apart that not even Spider-Man can hold them together. 0:18
