Rocky Marciano vs Ezzard Charles I - Round 10, 15 & Decision

This is Rocky Marciano's second title defense and his only that went the distance.
The referee didn't separate them even once.
Charles thought he won, and asked for a rematch which took place three months later.

Their records at the time (W-L-D):
Rocky Marciano: 45-0-0
Ezzard Charles: 83-10-1

These were the glorious days of boxing - and not only because of Rocky - days that will never come back.

Wow. Look at the stamina and relentlessness of Rocky Marciano. That is extraordinary...and he was in the heavyweight division fighting in a 15 rounder!!!! I've never seen a fighter who fights 180 seconds of every round the way Rocky Marciano used to.

What a beautiful boxer was Ezzard Charles, the way he holds his hands and moves but his worst nightmare is a devastating puncher with a granite chin, who keeps coming.

My god 15 rounds of that intensity and energy expended and I'm just talking about the announcer!

Both fighters, true warriors, even in the 15th round, no signs of tiring....The older fighters are the masters !

Ezzard Charles was the only fighter that lasted 15 rounds against Rocky.

Marciano greatest stamina of any heavyweight. 15 rounds and he's still belting away with both hands.

Regardless of what anyone thinks you are watching the best heavyweight fighters in the world. And they didn't disappoint. Feel priveleged, and just appreciate. This is where our sport comes from. I think both showed special attributes...

Charles, was fine fighter, but he was against the very best, a relentless, Rocky Marciano. Great fight.

The prolific work rate of Marciano is amazing. Holy crap!! He is in superb condition. These are the championship rounds of a 15 rounder - the pace is staggering.

One of the greatest fights of all time! The main inspiration behind all those 'ROCKY' films? - Indubitably

D'you you think Marciano knew the difference between the first and fifteenth round? Because it never seemed like it.

Thank you very much once again. Ezzard Charles had one heck of a chin. Look at Ezzard's face at the end of the fight.... Good god almighty. Ezzard was extremely lucky that there weren't any more rounds left after 15 :). All due respect to Ezzard though, he showed a lot of heart. And Rocky Marciano, heh, well what can I say? Relentlessly perfect, as always.
