I'm pretty sure the pink Homer ape is supposed to be a reference to "Kwyjibo" from the episode Bart The Genius.

I thought the comic strip was 'Life IN Hell'.

11:46 Fun fact - according to the commentary, the writers told the show runners they loved this episode so much that they were considering making it a plot for a movie they were already considering. But then they said the episode ran short on time and they had to extend or add some scene to reach the broadcast length.

There's a playlist for season one commentary online but most get copyright claimed and get removed.

But yeah, that's funny, cuz I felt this episode was off somehow as a fan and the writing team loved it.

In addition to the Life in Hell Rabbits appearing alongside Marge's ears from being shocked (and her vacuum cleaner grabbing her apparent wig at times), Krusty just being a guy when hit is probably connected to the season one plan of having Homer actually be Krusty. Neither that or rabbit Marge made it into the final version of the show of course but it seems to be where the game got inspiration

When I was a kid in the 90s, about 6 years old the family and I were in Hornsea. There was an arcade there that had this game. My Mom and my Sister went to the toilet in the cafeteria we were in. They took, ages. So I left and went to play the game. Eventually I came back and my mom and my Sister were still not there. Turns out they got locked in the toilet stall and it too ages for anyone to let them out. So I played this game for a little while while I waited. First time I played it.

There's an arcade in town that has this game. The Homer buttons don't work.

The thing I love about these early games is that no one knew just who or what was going to catch on.

Almost every videogame from this time includes Blinky like it was going to be the show's official mascot, Smithers is always more sinister (and sometimes a different skin tone), and there's a much more frantic, outlandish feel contrasted to the more grounded (for the time) style of seasons 2 onward.

I played this game in a recreation cabinet. The best feature was the infinite life system letting you spam the life button and constantly play the first 2 seconds of the simpsons theme. Homer and Bart saying their names like pokemon is also now a permanent part of me and my brother’s vocabulary

With the licensed beat em up resurgence, it would be cool to see a new Simpsons title in the vein of Shredder's Revenge and Rita's Rewind.

There was an ice cream shop near my childhood home with an arcade in the back. They had this cabinet; I don't think I ever actually played it, but I watched that preview roll so many times.

"Simpsoms"

In seriousness, I've been watching this series for days and love it! I have fond memories of playing this game at Chuck E Cheese with a group of 3 other random kids and just button mashing our way to victory. So much fun!

There was a remake/new interpretation version for IOS from 2009. good luck getting this to run. loved that game on my ipod touch. I also was able to play the original game in an arcade years ago pre pandemic.

I love this game. I lived in a small rural town but our one and only pizza place had this cab. My first date was to the pizza place where we proceeded to beat the game.
