its so crazy that people who have absolutely no respect for the arts are the only people allowed to be successful in the arts

Just as an asided--- I work for a community college,
Every day I see people take onerous student load debt to learn trades that their industries should be teaching them on the job.

My personal favorite Nepo Baby (if we are defining them as simply "famous people who also have rich/famous parents") is Ronan Farrow. This guy had all the connections he would need to be successful in the entertainment industry, he could have coasted by on his family's wealth for a long time, but instead he got a Ph.D and became an investigative journalist who exposes high profile cases of sexual abuse. The man is a legend and has actively worked to make the world a better place by shedding light on the crimes of powerful men like Harvey Weinstein. What a fantastic example of someone using their privilege for good.

their parents never help them read the room…

Sam Levinson is the Nepo baby I hate the most - that man has no idea who I am and I loathe him with my entire being lol

It's almost unfair to bring up Brooklyn Beckham in this. I wouldn't trust him to not eat a box of crayons.

nepo babies are a symptom of a larger rottenness. sure, it’s fun to shit on nepo babies who don’t have talent to make ourselves feel better but if we really want to address this at the root, artists must get involved in the class struggle. capitalism’s organization of society has bottlenecked truly great art. once workers have seized control over their industries, which would not exist without them, can we enter a new renaissance in art and culture.

If my parents were billionaires you would never see or hear from me again.

there have always been nepo babies but the levels of entitlement and disrespect that these new ones exhibit set them apart from LizaMinelli, Michael Douglas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Carrie Fisher . These nepo OGs put in the work

Nepo Brats don't have to "pay their dues" as  it was called back in the day.
Go through the Grind and Learning from being in the trenches can be skipped for them.

Jack Quaid is my favorite nepo baby 😅 -but I think he's pretty good at what he does and acknowledges his Nepo Baby status lol

Top tier title

I think a lot of the enshittification we see across the board comes right from the top, the executives and the CEOs and the investors who fund these companies, so I see the unprepared nepotism babies as a symptom rather than a cause. Executives and investors don’t understand what makes people want to buy art in the first place, and they’re also not interested in learning. They think that as long as content is put in front of enough people, those people will pay to consume it and line will go up, regardless of its actual quality. They don’t invest in training and developing artists because they don’t think it matters, and if consumers get bored of one artist, the company can rotate a different artist into her slot and keep the machine moving. The ideas of brand integrity and longevity and investing in talent are completely foreign to the people actually making the decisions, and it’s especially sad for the people who do work hard to develop their skills because their bosses do not seem to appreciate or care. Nepo babies usually land on their feet since they have support networks and resources to try something else, but in the meantime there are thousands of people being fed into the corporate meat grinder who don’t have a cushion made of money to catch them when they’re spat back out.

I've said this elsewhere and I'll say it again, there have ALWAYS been Neops. One of the most famous Nepo babies in History? Alexander The Great. He inherited an empire, the best Army in the Greek world, and his father and mother's bloodlines.
BUT...he was also very well trained.
Aristotle was his teacher as a child. Philp II could afford it.
And young Alex still had to prove himself, cutting his teeth in his father's light Calvary.

What pisses people off nowadays is, we KNOW it's a scam. The game is totally rigged. You can have all the talent in the world and all that matters is if you have the right connected bloodline. They earn nothing and you have no chance even though you are more talented.

My friend’s father is a vocal coach in Orange County, and most of his clients were label new hires that either needed some polish or the label be told they were a wash out.  Now it’s artists with talent who are footing the bill themselves or wealthy kids who decided they wanted to be a star, and it’s the latter group that made him decide to stop taking new clients and phase into retirement.

16:15 - this part. I appreciate hearing someone else point out that awkward posing and self awareness that breaks the immersion for me when I am watching a movie or music video etc.

The show business has always been an dumping ground for the wealthy where to drop their failchildren to make them look like achievers

Great video. I love how normally you try to keep a neutral tone in your videos, but these kids are so insufferable that your disdain for them couldn't help but seep through here 🤣

Compare North West to Blue Ivy. Beyoncé made Blue train really hard before she came on tour with her. North is not trained in anything and was able to make an album and start a tour. She’s a child so I blame Kim. But it’s not good.

12:38 that zoom in is nightmare material 😂
