She wrote the song as a parody of the way the media portrayed Taylor as being a serial dater.

The lyrics are about Taylor flipping the script on her haters. They kept saying she couldn't keep a man and dated too much.

Funny enough, it is her husband's favorite song. She used the lyric "so it's going to be forever..." on some of her wedding party favors.

It’s satire based on the media making her out to be a serial dater and man eater. She was upset, but then realized that would make a good character for a song. She flipped the narrative and made her biggest hit at the time. I absolutely love “crazy” Taylor in the video, she cracks me up every time. No cars or men were hurt in the making of this video 😂😂 Fun fact this song is known for one of the most misheard lyrics. “Got a long list of ex-lovers” was misheard by many as “got a long list of Starbucks lovers” 😂. This song will always be a banger.

This song is satire about everyone portrays her! Brilliant

Great video! Taylor wrote this song as satire.... her lyric, "I can read you like a magazine"... is exactly what tabloid media did to Taylor, inventing false narratives of her dating life. This song makes fun of that narrative, and became 1 of her 15, #1 hits!

She took the media narrative about her at the time & turned it into a #1 hit!💫 She said: "This is an interesting character they talk about ...I can use this!" ;) & Blank Space was born!🙌
(It's also Travis' fave.)💯☺️❤️‍🔥

She took the media's criticism of her life and turned it into a hit song.

I listened to your channel before you were doing this with Pops and I am watching it now. I’m telling you this is the sauce! You and your dad keep it up

I'm really interested in where she goes now, as she transitions into a more mature phase of her life. I hope she continues to put out music, even if it's at a slower pace. She's set financially, that's for sure.

you can hear her explain the meaning of the song in the Grammy museum video where she talks about how she wrote the album 1989.

This is her husband’s favorite song too

She said she made this video of this character the media made for her. She said she thought it would be fun.

PS… “I Knew You Were Trouble” is on your list of videos on your screen at the end, when you and your Dad are talking… GREAT song. And GREAT live performance… in Sydney. But, you have to see the video, first.

2:50 Greyhounds would have fit perfectly in this video. So sleek and powerful.

I was not a TS fan until I saw her Live! 10 minute performance of "All Too Well" on Saturday Night Live. That one performance made me a believer. The stripped down staging, the lighting, the excellent acoustics, all forced me to really listen to the very poignant lyrics for the first time. I'd love to see your Dad's and your reaction to that video. I've since listened to all her albums. My personal favorite is TTPD... IMO, it's her most mature, sophisticated work, so far. But Folklore is a close second. Please check out that awesome performance of "All Too Well." It's a game changer.

Jordi you Crack me up breaking this song down. I always enjoy seeing you do reactions with your dad also. Great reaction❤

Since everyone else has already told you about the history of this song, I’ll tell you that you need to watch her live performance of this from her 1989 Tour in Sydney. EAS has it done nicely. (They, actually, have the whole show, I believe, and it’s an AMAZING concert.) As you may have come to see, she has one performance on her albums, she adds more with the videos, and the. Her concert performances are the icing on the cake. But, I prefer the 1989 performance over the Eras performance for this song.
