What happens when your sewing space no longer works for your body?

You change the space — not your love of creating!

When my legs became wheels, I made 10 practical changes to my sewing space so I could sew, quilt and enjoy being creative once more. In this video, I’m taking you through each one — what I changed, why it helped and how small adaptations can make a big difference and why it is ok to still be working things out.

Many of us will experience a time when our creative space needs to change. It might be because of a broken limb, a condition we were born with, illness, disability or simply a body that is ageing. Whatever the reason, creativity should still feel possible, joyful and welcoming.

Now I’d love to hear from you: What have you changed in your creative space to help you continue doing what you love? Share your ideas in the comments — your solution might be exactly what someone else in our community needs.

Creativity can have such a positive impact on our mental health, and creating as part of a supportive community makes it even better. The Quilted Maple is here to offer as much or as little support as you need along the way.

So grab your favourite drink, settle in and let’s find new ways to keep creating together!
