Welcome to The Quilted Maple — a Canadian quilting and creative community where the journey matters more than perfection, there’s no judgement, and there is always another way.

I’m Hannah, and in this very first episode I’m opening the doors to The Quilted Maple. I’m in the studio and sharing why I wanted to create a different kind of quilting and creative space.

Of course, there will be plenty of quilting here — but The Quilted Maple is about much more than simply making quilts.

We’ll explore quilting, sewing, longarm quilting, machine embroidery, colour, design, textiles and creative projects, alongside tutorials, experiments, studio vlogs, behind-the-scenes videos, visits to quilt shops, honest conversations about products and equipment, and probably more than a few projects that don’t go quite according to plan.

And that’s absolutely fine.

I don’t believe you need the perfect sewing machine, the perfect sewing room, years of experience or the ability to follow every technique exactly as it was originally taught.

Sometimes we simply need to find another way.

That idea is at the heart of The Quilted Maple.

As this channel grows, we’ll talk about creativity and confidence, different ways of learning and making, accessibility, adapting techniques, working at your own pace and why the creative journey can sometimes be every bit as important as the finished piece.

I’m not here pretending to know everything either.

I’ll share what I know, what I’m learning, what works for me, what doesn’t, what I change — and what happens when an idea that looked brilliant in my head meets fabric, thread and reality.

Most importantly, I want The Quilted Maple to become a welcoming creative community.

A place you can come for inspiration.

A place you can learn something.

A place where asking a beginner question really is okay.

A place where we can celebrate the beautiful finishes and laugh about the seams we’ve just had to unpick.

A place where you never have to feel as though you’re creating alone.
