Never dove, never plan on diving, still love the podcast

as a non-diver, i really appreciate the long winded explanations

laughing so hard at Woody armed with his certificate .. sorry ... Rabbi Woody

I haven’t watched Dive Talk for quite a while now and I just turned it on and I didn’t even recognize Gus. Honestly, I thought it was somebody else.  I even Googled it to see why Gus left the show lol. I’m extremely happy you’re still there but that really speaks volumes about the noticeable difference. And I worked in bariatric surgery so I know what it takes to lose that kind of weight. You have to be dedicated to it. So congratulations Gus.
You look fabulous!

There’s quite a few articles on this case here in the UK. The video didn't mention that the student didn't declare hypertension on their dive medical and was positive for alcohol and cocaine in autopsy. Not victim blaming, just adding some missed details. A really tragic story for all involved.

"That says clergy. What is this?" Haha I love these guys' banter. Exactly how my brother and I talk to each other lol

Rabbi Woody is armed and ready with his certification and he's NOT afraid to use it!

Edit: My apologies, I ment no disrespect. (forgot the title)

i loved how Gus talked about the octopus. In various endeavors I've seen people cheap out on backup safety gear. I always thought Geez an emergency is when you need the best, you're already in trouble, you don't need gear failure.

I'm so, so sorry for both Nigel and Richard.  What a horrible, tragic situation.

Hey Gus, thank you for always providing the depth in metres, very helpful!!

Richard being out of breath on the surface swim was the first sign of trouble. Problems with buoyancy control at depth indicates his breathing was abnormally fast/shallow and his lungs were creating more lift.

My very first thought was fluid in his lungs. That sucks. I suppose, a lesson to be learned here is: If someone is telling you that they're having problems, believe them! Don't tell them they're ok, because you can't know they're ok. If they're telling you that they can't breathe, there might be something you don't know. Ofc, it's difficult to differ "real" problem from panic attack.
I love your videos. I'd watch any length of video you guys do. In the final clip, they're clearly training for a horror movie scenario where the monsters are attacking the divers, duuh. Lol.

Video: Shows map with arrows.
Gus: "Very detailed, this guy."
Video: Immediately spells "entrance" as "enterence."
Gus: ...

I was on a dive in Egypt where a 18 yo lady completely ran out of air at 18m and her father ran out completely on the safety stop. It appears they both gave incorrect air readings to the dive guide. Mental !

As someone with asthma and have had pneumonia a few times, you know 100% when you have water in your lungs. Also anyone that has been on a beach and swallowed a wave knows the same feeling

“I understand that not everyone has the same budget, and I don’t dive anymore due to health issues. But when I did dive, I used two high-end regulators—specifically the Aqua Lung Legend. At most depths, it felt like I was just sitting in my living room breathing normally. That’s how smooth and effortless it was.”

"Monday morning quarterbacks will say, I would of... no you wouldn't. You have no idea what you would do till it's you. I bet he never thought he would have panicked, but he did." -Edd Sorenson

Congratulations! I’ve been watching through your older content where you say that you guys are not instructors so congrats on levelling up ✨🎉

I have a really close friend whose husband died while cave diving.  He wore no helmet and died from blunt force trauma from hitting his head on the top of a cave.  When they found him he had plenty left in his tank..... its still hard to talk about.

The third rule underwater is a lot like fuel planning for airline pilots. Landing with just enough fuel would be unimaginable.
