Shark: excuse me sir,do you have a minute to talk about our Lord And Saviour Poseidon?

0:21 "Respecting ourselves is tricky for us" spoken seriously while wearing a shark hat is just about the perfect meme

Having spent 25 years leading specialized shark dives, I can tell you that throwing live bait to distract a shark is a dangerous mistake. It almost guarantees they will enter hunting mode. Also. He was absolutely right. As seals head for the shore, sharks become increasingly aggressive. To make matters worse, he couldn't just head for the rocks, disembarking a kayak in the water is risky, and he could easily have been smashed against them. Staying out and remaining calm until reaching the beach was the safest move.

I will give this guy credit for adjusting the camera shot right while he's being actively stalked. That's freaking wild!

So he went fishing and was successful in attracting a big fish.

"Tangaroa if you can hear this, please keep me safe"
Tangaroa is the god of the sea in NZ

This became (literally) the best thing that ever happened to him because it went so viral, and now he has a huge following. If he had gone closer to the rocks the shark would’ve thought he was a seal, because the seals stay close to shore, and if he had paddled harder he would have created turbulence that makes the shark think he’s in distress and an easier prey item.

Imagine paying 800$ for a kayak just to discover that to a great white, it’s basically a Happy Meal box.

I'm a shark expert with PhD in sharkology.  The correct response in this situation is to shart yourself.

“You’re just gonna die tired” 😂 7:20

2:48 "all the bait fish is holding down on the bottom" - wise bait fish.

I think the shark was being territorial and was escorting him out

This is in NEW ZEALAND

Woodies hat and his commentary on this one is priceless 🤣🤣

“If you want to day drink, you should just day drink!”😂

Hmmm... The guy is basically a floating cannoli.  What could go wrong.

Listen, this is his puppy and he is taking him for a little walky! 😜

The escorting you to your car line had me dying

Dude is a friend and one of the coolest guys on earth, living the good life on the road, drop-line fishing for dinner and moving to a new spot. You should contact him - he’d love to be interviewed, I’m sure. Watch when the shark first shows up- the distance from nose to tail fin - it’s MASSIVE.

he probably follows the boat because a lot of fish boats throw fish overboard so it learned it can get a quick meal that way
