In this finale video, we put the gearbox back together and see if everything works the way it should.

After being told he needed a $25,000 gearbox replacement, the customer called me to take a proper look at it. In this video we finish the job, get everything back together, test drive the van, and finally reveal what the job actually cost.

Did it work?
Was the original quote right?
And most importantly… was the customer happy in the end?

Let’s find out.

Andrew in this day and age it is so great to see a mechanic who does a great job at a very reasonable price. You sir, are a breath of fresh air. Love your attitude.😊

Well done, saved the customer a small fortune.

You’re a total legend - but you knew that already.

The other bit missing, you may do the job in one hit but you also found the transmission and picked it up. The way you work almost makes me want to buy a broken down LDV and give you a call 😂
Rare gem you are. Keep up the good work

my old grandfather was a shoesalesman that also had a cobbler " shoes repair shop" he said a happy customer can be 5 customers in the end

You are a top bloke and mechanic!!!. It saddens me that we can no longer rely or trust ANY dealerships as I have been burned by them on many occasions, so it is up to you independent mechanics like yourself and the car care nut and others to bring back old style honesty and experience. How I wish you lived in the Melbourne area. WELL DONE!!

He brought you the lift trolley saved you money from that and $1500 for 1 days work is better then a poke in the eye .
Id say its a win all round .

You must have brought up by a family of angels Andrew, you sound and appear genuinely an honest person at heart, God richly bless you and your family, keep doing what you're good at brother, Arohanui from New Zealand, there will always be a roof over your head if you ever consider coming to NZ for break.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Top tip for owner-mechanics: Start screwing bolts & filler plugs in by hand for the first 2 or 3 turns, to avoid cross-threading. Spend an extra 6 seconds by doing this, to avoid a 2 hour job with a Helicoil kit.
