NEWS FROM A WORLD IN FLUX

Extinction Rebellion’s co-founder Clare Farrell and conservation scientist Dr Charlie Gardner team up once more to discuss issues and stories they feel are not getting enough airtime. They want to make sure that the latest news in science and important reports that are relevant to the climate and ecological crisis are flagged and explained in ways that are easy to understand.

EPISODE 36: Net Zero boosts economy and Trump accelerates transition

In this week's episode Clare and Charlie discuss the boost to the economy the push for Net Zero is delivering in the UK. They also discuss how the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is accelerating decarbonization around the world.

I understand that there are areas that are forming local informal grids who sell energy from their solar to locals without solar. These then connect to other mini grids nearby and so grow their capacity.

This illustrates all Christian Stöcker or Dirk Specht also tell in Germany. The transition is inevitable globally. Refusing our local transformation by some as Farage e.g. and also the current German governement do, just destroys our own economy. Not the other way round, as they try to convince the public.

Climate solutions and renewables must be promoted heavily as the new thing that's lucrative/the future etc.., like any new social media platform product/service, there must be good constant hype around the business potential of it all for new waves of influencers to run with it and amplify the average user exposure to green/clean concepts!

I muse about the literal meaning of Re-Form. Form into what exactly? "Re" points backwards. Are people aware of this?
It sounds alike the German party "Alternative for Germany". "Alternative" to what and how?

Burning fossil fuel is also driving the greenhouse effect.

Some people are so poor, all they have is money. Not my quote.
March for peace & be relentless, persevere until they the troublemaking thugs know we're determined to get the message through that we love for real & that we know better managementof this ship is not only possible, its essential, i mean look at what's going on & ask yourselves, is this the best you can really do, use up Earths resources or blow it up, whoever or whatever you're, step aside.

gas supplies from Russia were not insecure , but were an integral part of the transition from coal and oil to renewables because the gas was cheaper and made that transition more affordable . Not good enough for the English who kick started the war against Russia back then with the Libya invasion , The greedy over-populating English had to go in with the Yankees making everything dearer to their own benefit , as ever .

If the economy gets boosted isn`t that just more consumption ? a bit like saving on solar and spending savings on flying off somewhere ? I worry electable messaging is hiding the other truths needed that go with de carbonizing .

I agree that we must decarbonise just look at the current heatwave and fires. But it always cracks me up when extinction rebellion use petrochemicals via spray cans and this ladies hair is also full of chemicals to make these colours. It just demonstrates how selective people can be. Escape from fossil fuels is so difficult.

The cooler we stay and less outbursts the better.. grow in your perception and belief of what politics can be and how to promote healthy interaction. Being angry aggressive brats isn't participating in the future. This group has to learn how to tear things apart to understand the core not just tear things apart for pleasure of destruction. Other parties are in the business for mega time... If we will get more environmental in politics you have to have sophisticated approach... I hope they begin outsmarting others instead of being a art movement... Start recruiting real politic minds with a green heart
