I'm the same way! Back when I was a teenager, I would always look up my comics in a price guide just to see if I had any that were worth something, but I never planned on selling them. In fact, I gave them to my daughter when I started collecting trades and Omnis a few years ago.

I'll never forget when I went to Best Buy in the first week of December back in 2017 and found the "Spider-Man" 5-Movie 4K Steelbook Collection. Turned out that someone forgot to remove the Black Friday sticker and I got it for half price at only $49.99! Saw that it's now going for up to HUNDREDS of dollars on eBay. Not going for as much, but still pretty expensive, I also have "The Chase" (1994) on DVD, "28 Days Later" and "Dogma" on Blu-ray.

One of the more unique DVDs I have, not based on the actual movie but the menu screen, is Wayne's World. It's probably a pretty common pressing and is out there in the millions of discs, but it looks like an old cable TV scrolling channel listing. If you remember back in the day, you would go to a certain channel and it would scroll through the cable channels and show you what was playing currently and what was coming up for the next few hours. Very cool.

Lots of 80's and 90's anime was never released on Blu-ray and due to rights issues was never put on streaming. I often buy anime DVDs and laserdisc.

Great collection brotha!  I'm a late 80s baby!  So I know all about the movies you mentioned here!

Love the content, just stumbled across your channel

I was absolutely flabbergasted when I looked up some of the stuff in my collection - I used to buy anime series back in the day, it is WILD how much some of those go for now, compared to what I paid for them, and even crazier how much they can fluctuate in price. I've seen some multi-disc sets going for anywhere from $30-500 per disc, and you never know when they'll drop or skyrocket

'Caravan of Courage' and 'Battle For Endor' were also released on LaserDisc.

Nice I have 6 of the ones you showed and all sealed because I have a bad habit of buying movies and watching them years later lol

I've even bought several VHS tapes recently because a ton of movies never made it to DVD. Steven Moyer and Kathryn Heigl did a movie called Prince Valiant based on the old comic strip, sadly it never made it past VHS. Found a DVD of the Italian shot English language movie call Heart's and Armour staring Ron Moss and Tanya Roberts, the DVD is super rare and the VHS is easier to find but still kind of rare, Found a Blu ray of The Perils of Gwendoline staring Tawny Kitaen region free on eBay. I never thought I'd still be buying video tapes and DVDs in 2026.

Cool video. Always interesting to see what things in your collection increase (or decrease) in value. Most of my collection has stayed constant, but then again I am fairly new to collecting physical media.

The Disney Club black hole which I never opened and at this point probably will never open.

My most valuable are the Scream Factory Halloween Box Set that released back in 2015 (honestly, it’s my favorite box set. Even if I don’t watch the movies, I occasionally skim through the essay booklet that comes with it), the Second Sight Dawn of the Dead 4k set that comes with an essay book and a novelization of the movie, Arrow Video’s 4k set of An American Werewolf in London, Suspiria 4k with the slipcover, Arrow Video’s 4k set of Tremors, the Underworld 4k boxset, and also my Blu Ray copy of the Five Heartbeats (had no idea that was going for so much).

Something I'm starting to notice is once there is a scarcity crisis for a movie taken off of streaming, the secondhand prices dont tend to dip back down to their original value even after the movie is re-added back onto streaming. 28 Days Later for example, i own a 2 movie combo pack on blu-ray that shot all the way up to $110, but eve as those movies were added back to streaming the 2 pack is still being sold at $60 - $80. Even the DVDs are selling for $20+ still. I think once people get shocked by a movie being taken away like that, it tends to stick with them and they are willing to still spend more just to prepare for it happening again.

The Shing was and would be my most expensive, snice I was able to get the Black Barons edition. But it was so worth it.

My most valuable is the Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre complete collection DVD set complete with the storybook and playing cards (yeah, it's a cool set).  Amazon, the cheapest for used is over $200 (brand new is over $300).  On ebay, I see an auction that ends in about 6 hours that has multiple bidders who have bid it up to $55.  I saw a set in worse condition than mine for $125 as a BIN.  Most of the sets I see are just the DVDs and missing the book and playing cards.

The set came out in September 2008.  I don't think it was out long.  My birthday is September, and I asked my dad for it in 2008 since I had loved that show as a kid.  I think it was replaced sometime in 2009 where they just took the DVD set out of the larger packaging and shrink wrapped it.  Coming without the book and playing cards.

I buy blu-rays to maintain access to them, I never been interested in selling them. 99% of the Blu-rays I own are anime but I do see my self expanding that with horror titles specifically.

I have seen many titles I own go out of print and increase in price. I’m happy when they do reprints of these because it fixes issues from previous releases like 1 disc releases to two disc or revisions to color to better reflect the original work. I also get new box art.

I recently bought Shiki which isn’t being streamed anywhere legally and quality is far better than seven sails the shore. I had to get a physical release.

I had previously purchased call of the night, I have preordered the re-released of it in a special edition which glows in the dark. I wish they would experiment more with these special editions on the anime side of releases like this. I see them do it with the regular titles (non anime).

“Honey I shrunk the kids” blu ray, I remember seeing this at video ezy/ blockbuster when I was kid for next to nothing, favourite childhood movie, I hop on eBay now to re watch after all these years and holy sh*t.. Couple honourable mentions that I own, Valhalla rising, papillon 1973, 28 days later (doubtful be rare for long) all region b blu ray.

I picked up Shanghai Noon/Knights for $2.50CAD because it was a third copy and The Beat Goes On in Ontario, Canada lessens each extra copy they have in the store. So I bought the Shanghai double feature and The Ghost and the Darkness 2 for $5CAD.

In Nov 2022 I paid $7.99 for the shanghai set from Amazon. I do have the Back to the Future  steelbook set. I also have the Columbia Classics Vol 1.

Had no idea about Shanghai Noon/Nights. I remember buying this at Walmart for like 10 bucks

Amazing values ! And secondary media production companies are having fewer projects / contracts this year! Supply will dwindle of physical media.
