With this video and the way you are so open and honest about collecting. You're definitely the best movie collecting channel on YouTube. Most people just show the massive shelfs they have without talking about the perks of being a collector with relatable topics. You sir, have done that 👏🏻👏🏻

For slip covers I take them off and do the stickers that way. Or use goo gone for that. It’s 10$ but it works great. For glue on case or on old toys.

A good tip for removing sharpie marks and sticker residue is to use lemon oil applied to a q-tip. I just used that method to clean up a bunch of blu ray and dvd cases. Also, lemon oil is cheaper than Goo Gone.

Thanks so much for the content. Since i found your channel its reignited my passion for my physical media. I have so much and its allowing me to get back into working on it. Appreciate you and your videos.

For the stickers if you use isopropyl alcohol that works really well

💯 best way to remove adhesive is to carefully remove the sticker without tearing it, then use that same sticker and quickly dab it on and off the remaining adhesive on the cover.  The sticker will slowly and safely pull the rest of the adhesive off.  May have to do this for a while, but safer than any other method.

Great video , really enjoying your channel.
Been a avid collector for over 30yrs

One of the best shelf saving tips is this: If you have, for example, a film series with 5 movies with 5 individual cases, put the discs (and sleeve for the first movie) in 5-disc case. Now you have shelf space for almost another 4 cases.

Your taste in movies is so similar to mine, i can tell we grew up in a similar era

Great tips. To rub one out start with dry hands then add saliva. 😮

Great video really did love these tips.

I done jacked up one time and wrote with a Sharpie on a white trailer display menu and my boss was furious. I tried using toothpaste and all that to get it off and then, I went over it with a black dry erase marker. Write with the dry erase like you did the Sharpie. Let it sit for a minute and then wipe away with a clean cloth. Sometimes you have to do it a couple of times and then gone. DONT USE RUBBING ALCOHOL! It destroys your cover art or cartridge label on videogames. Use a dry erase marker over Sharpie instead

All of these tips are spot on!

This is a great video. Not too many things I didn’t know about but you always teach me something which I appreciate

12:20 you can also just use the heat gun on the sticker itself, it will loosen it up to the point were you can remove it without the residue.

I use a little dab of goo gone to take the old sticker residue off. And when I take off a sticker form a new slipcover I use a X-acto knife. Just carefully use the knife to lift the edge. Just enough where you’re able to lift it yourself. I also put my movies with slipcover in plastic covers. It protects the movie over time.

A couple ways I clean up permanent marker & remove stickers. Use a dry erase marker over the permanent marker , wipe and repeat until gone. I use a pocketknife at a slight angle to get stickers off. If it doesn’t all come off a little goo gone and use the knife and wipe away.

I use 2 things to remove the adhesive crap after taking the stickers off. Alcohol gel and a lint roller. Does the trick everytime

Goo Gone is the best thing for sticker residue.

Didnt know you were a historian restorer as well lol Always like these kind of videos. Just always learning new random things about Media.I would have never thought about the heat gun..P.S. We still need that skate video collection video!!!

You can also use Goo Gone (an orange oil based solvent) on water varnish (gloss finish) slip covers to remove sticker residue. I apply it sparingly dipping a Q-Tip then squeezing out the excess by pressing the tip on the bottle's inner rim... Let it work for 30 sec to about a minute, then blot the area with a clean paper towel. Don't use this method on matte finish slip covers as it will soak into the card, darkening the ink colours.
