My grandfather was an architect. He was a very smart man that had garnered a lot of respect and adoration from people during his life. But when he started to get older, we eventually had to take the keys away from him because we didn't trust him to drive his vehicle without running it into a farmers market. This movie makes me think of that a lot.

The fact that these clips make no sense without context makes it so much funnier because in context they also make zero sense.

If someone had shown me these clips without context, I would have assumed they were from 20 different movies.

Megalopolis is a cautionary tale in why sometimes it's good for studios to intervene in a director's vision.

Not even a honest trailer can explain this movie

Aubrey Plaza's character was called Wow Platinum because Coppola couldn't get the rights to call her "Janet Snakehole", right?

This movie is like that friend that gets really high and thinks they are saying something deep but are really just saying nonsense

Not gonna lie, this Honest Trailer made me want to watch the movie more than any of the actual marketing did!

Imagine letting your actors write their own script mid production and having your whole art department quit because of that

This is the movie equivalent of Abe Simpson's rambling story about the onion on the belt. Which was the style at the time!

This was a movie I did not enjoy, but am thrilled it got made.
I genuinely wish we got more weird garbage and less generic garbage (probably starring the rock)

adam driver literally talks like a reddit mod for the entire film

The running gag of Cicero being vicously boo'd in every public appearance was genuinely funny.

Coppola tried to make a metaphor for the U.S. falling like Ancient Rome, but instead this film looks like a dozen separate films clipped together, and sounds like a fever dream explained by Tommy Wiseau. Interesting note for him to retire on at least.

"Tommy Wiseau with a masters" absolute burn lol

I will eternally repeat my favourite fun fact about this movie: the brief footage of 9/11 used in this movie in a flashback sequence was actually “brand new” footage filmed exclusively for this movie by the first production team for this film back in 2001. This film was literally 30 years in the making, to the point where the footage from the original shoot is a piece of history.

'Arrowed!" has gotta be one of the most obscure references Honest Trailers has ever done. I spit out my soup.

Oh hi Mark...us Aurellius 😭😭

3:18 Alright I’ve got no interest in seeing this movie, but a Claudius Pulcher reference is AMAZING. He was ancient Rome’s biggest troll, and Shia Leboeuf is probably the perfect actor to play him.
