Wildest stance I ever encountered in the wild was working a demo with K2. Girl comes in and wanted a 139 Va Va Voom Rocker. Stance maxed out so only two screws were in it front angle maxed out to almost completely straight towards the nose and the tail one just a little less than that. Something like 25 inches wide and an angle of 45 -45 on each. She couldn't turn and would just spin in circles and that's how she thought snowboarding was.

Re: stance width. The most useful reference, that I still recommend to people, is the Nidecker video that recommends measuring the length of your shin from knee to floor, and start there. It's worked well for everyone I've ever used it with, so far. And yes, it does pretty much match the "shoulder width" method, for most people.

Even knowing most of these tips/having learned them the hard way, this was a fun watch!
Your videos are a service to the people and the vibes are right 👏

Ice Coaster here,

Huge fan of you guys and love all the content y'all put out. Fawcett, can you please get back to your roots and give us a top 5 for the north east? Not just you guys, but everyone is only ever putting out top five for groomers or pow days. We need a top five for those icy early season days at Loon or Cannon. Appreciate you guys and keep the content coming.

I helped my daughter’s boyfriend and my wife’s boss set up their bindings, and both of them said they had no idea there was that much to it, I told them that’s why you go to a reputable board shop. A close friend asked if I could go hook him up with boots, bindings and board at one of Seattle’s biggest board shops, I told him I would but it had to be during the week because the weekends are so busy and the sales person just doesn’t have the time to spend with each purchase. As it was during the week it still took us about two hours, I mentioned to him now imagine a line of twenty people standing there waiting for help.

Another big set up “must do” is to tighten your screws often, I tighten them before every ride

thank you fellas for consistently putting out the most comprehensive snowboard content out there

3:50 A thing that no one ever mentions and people often don't realize is that if you want to be completely centered, but you have more angle in your front foot, you'll have more tail than nose in fs turns, and that can be washy.
That's why when you use different angles on each foot, you should measure from the toe to the nose/tal instead of from the center of the binding.
That's for twin boards, because for directionals, one should measure to contact points.

All of this is good advice. Forward lean is a preference though. I absolutely hate it and always have. Been riding since ‘91. You do have to match the boots’ forward lean to the highbacks though (nobody ever thinks of that and you’ll end up with a gap at the heel part of your bindings if you don’t.

Also, if you’re a new snowboarder, buy the softest bindings in your chosen brand’s binding lineup. I cannot emphasize this enough. Stiff bindings will ride you not the other way around. They’ll give way too much input into your riding and your riding won’t be good enough yet to have such input. Every error you make will be multiplied and It’ll get scary for you.

This video helped me realize my overhang on my toe side was WAY too much. 3+ inches from a size 12 boot… Thank You!

We need some snow on the East Coast…..hardly a drop the last three seasons 🙏

@FazeredTube 11 months ago

This is proof that you are really likeable guys.

I have a three board quiver, my wife has two and the kids have a board each. I do the setup for all of them so this video is NOT aimed at me… but I STILL watched it!

@floatfiend9024 10 months ago

Thanks for the measurement tips. Can you do a vid with boots next time so we can see what each binding tweak looks like? What does too much overhang or high back adjustment looks like? 🤙🏼

@dizgotti-snow 11 months ago

with new bindings, i end up tightening the ankle strap down several times to let them stretch out a little. usually pulling them in another notch or two before i take em out on snow.
