XG and Katseye aren't really considered kpop. They may be affiliated with Korean production companies but none of thier music is Korean, it's all English and very western. Both worthy deep dives, especially XG if you like hip hop and rap. ✌️
13:57 Just to clear up that one part: the word you heard is 'Nega' (네가), which actually means 'you' in Korean. In that translation, she’s basically saying 'don't give a fuck, bout what you want .' I totally see why you had that reaction, though—when I first got into K-pop, I thought the same thing until I did my research! 😂 It’s pronounced 'ni-ga', similar to how the start of the Chinese word 'ni-hao' sounds. It’s one of the most common words in the language, but it definitely catches everyone off guard the first time! 😂😂
I think for ATEEZ you should try something like Guerrilla or Bouncy which are much more energetic and have great videos instead of songs like In Your Fantasy and Lemon Drop which are more chill.
you should listen and check their song called "Woke Up" it's a full rap song heavy with bars and the song (Jurin Asaya - PS118 feat. Rapsody) one of their solo members is named "Jurin" she is the leader of XG and it's also a rap song full of bars
XG is my favorite female group. They are not considered K-Pop or J-Pop. If you like XG, give their Woke UP, Howling, Left Right, Shooting Star, and their Tapes 1-4 a listen. Give Stray Kids a listen as well. Start with their newest tracks, Devine, Do It, then Creed, and Ceremony. Some of their older tracks are, God’s Menu, Venom, Topline, Thunderous, Truman, Easy, and so much more. You won’t be disappointed.
Ateez has some really good songs, you just happened to click on two of their most "thirst-trap-y" songs lol (still good songs, but def catered towards a specific audience). You should check out Bouncy, Halazia, Work, Birthday, and Crazy Form!
Japan is a country that is remarkably tolerant and open-minded toward religion and culture. A Black Enka singer can perform without facing criticism, and a rock musician releasing a jazz album is never seen as a problem. There is a culture here that respects "creation" and "expression" born from the pure pursuit of one’s own passions and imagination.
The concept of "cultural appropriation," which we often hear about online, is something that many Japanese people find confusing. While there are certainly pros and cons, I believe this openness is what defines the uniqueness, diversity, and even the "eccentricity" of Japanese culture.
Japanese music is fascinating, even if you just look at the chord progressions. When you see this environment, it becomes clear why Japan maintains the world's second-largest music market, following only the United States. I’d love to see you react to Japanese music.
XG are the most versatile out of all the groups you've shown. Like you said, they are different.and super talented. They can sing, rap and dance. All their songs are different from different genres like pop, R&B, hip hop, edm, garage, house, drill and they performed a rock version of Shooting Star in their live concert and Howling has a jazz sound. If you like rap then you should check out PS118 by XG leader Jurin and Rapsody.
XG is THAT group.. trustttt! Check out left right, shooting star, woke up, is this love and howling!! They have the vocals, visuals, dancing, rapping… they’re the total package.
