Great way to kick off a new channel. James Bond movies are so timeless and fantastic. Nice tier list!

25:52 I will say. Pierce Brosnan actually gave his best performance in The World Is Not Enough. He channelled a lot of Dalton and has much more of a steely edge here. I do love Sophie Marceau's Elektra as the first female main villain of the franchise

21:00 Licence To Kill is my number one Bond movie. Timothy Dalton is the embodiment of Bond in this movie. Professional and intimidating spy with a personal connection to the plot.

19:47 has probably the two best non title Bond songs in the series with If There Was. A Man and Where Has Everybody Gone? by the Pretenders.

Great video! A lot of great points. Looking forward to watching the rest of the series.

My friend, you missed a crucial element in the Goldfinger story. The gas canisters were switched and there was no ill effects on the soldiers. They pretended to be effected. Watch it again.

Great to hear even though we are from different eras and have some significantly different rankings.  Looking forward to more.

This should be fun project and hopefully quite timely in the lead up to any future news - or even releases - from Amazon!! Appreciate your mix of personal feelings with an interest in and understanding of the various production aspects. Go for it!

Dalton is the closest to Bond imho .

I'm always having debates with colleagues and friends about this topic  ! Lol

Really great video.
Personally, my top five, 1. From Russia With Love. 2. The Living Daylights.  3. For Your Eyes Only*. 4. Casino Royale.  5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

*except for the parrot and 'thatcher'.

I always enjoy watching film rankings. Within Bond there really is something for everyone

16:42 I really love For Your Eyes Only. It lends from a lot of Bond short stories and it was essential the brought the franchise to some sort of reality after the ridiculousness  of Moonraker. Director John Glen had to force Sir Roger Moore to do the scene where Bond kicks Locque off the ledge as Moore was skeptical of how his Bond would be perceived. But I just love the groundedness and the double cross of the movie.  I really do think this is the best Sir Roger Moore Bond movie

Moonraker was my first and it's still my favorite. The design is beautiful, the action is great, the villain has some great lines.

Brilliant stuff, my friend. Subscribed… Would love to see a top 10 Daniel Craig Scenes video.

It would take way to long to list them all, lol, but my top 5 Bond movies are:

1:  From Russia with Love - They had ironed out any issues with Dr.No and after the first film's success they felt more confident and it shows here.  Bigger budget, more set pieces, amazing theme song by Matt Monroe (the first of the always memorable and singable Bond theme songs) and possibly the best hand to hand fight scene ever recorded to film in the railway carriage fight.  And of course the first real reveal of Q when he shows Bond the briefcase in M's office.  What's not to love :)

It also has the rather bleak record of nearly killing the director.  Terence Young was supposed to go up in a helicopter to scout out locations for the boat chase scene in Scotland toward the end.  However the helicopter overturned in the water almost drowning him and the art director and a cameraman aboard.  Showing his stiff upper lip though, Young went back to directing after a couple of hours to recuperate.  On a sadder note, Pedro Armendariz who play Ali Kerim Bey, head of station T, Turkey, was dying of cancer during the filming of this movie and was in a lot of pain.  He pushed on through it so that his family would get the money from the movie.

2:  You only Live Twice - An incredible movie again with the producers pushing the envelope with the first big bad guy base being attacked by an 'army' (if you don't count the US Navy divers taking on SPECTRE divers in Thunderball of course).  It really set the benchmark for Bond villain lairs from that point on I think.  One note of interest was that the Japanese girl they hired to play the island girl Bond 'marries' couldn't swim, but she didn't tell anyone because she wanted the job.  When it came time for Bond and her to swim from the cave they were investigating they hit a snag.  Luckily Connery's wife at the time, Diane Cilento, was on set and quickly slipped into the bathing suit and did the swimming scenes.  If you watch closely during these scenes you will notice you never see the girls face until they come ashore :)  Another incredible theme song from Nancy Sinatra, yes, THAT Sinatra family, just seals the deal.  Though it took 25 takes supposedly because Nancy was so nervous she thought she sounded like Minnie Mouse :D

3:  The Spy Who Loved Me - Not a huge Roger Moore fan to be honest, but this movie is damn good.  You got to love the big battle scene inside a fake oil tanker at the end and, of course, the introduction of Jaws.  It was also good to see, even in the 70's that they weren't shy of putting Bond up against a woman who could hold her own in his Russian counterpart Anya Amasova.  It also sees the return of Walter Gotell as General Gogol, head of the KGB (last seen as head trainer on SPECTRE island in From Russia With Love) who would continue to pop up in future Bond movies.

4:  Goldfinger - What hasn't already been said about this classic.  Yes, I agree, the planes gassing the troops does look a little suspect.  Even as a young boy I wondered how the gas could get from the planes to the ground so fast, LOL.  But you have wonderful face off between Bond and Goldfinger on the golf course (Connery being a very keen golfer of course).  But I also liked the simpleness of Goldfingers plan.  He doesn't want to rob Fort Knox, he just wants to make the gold radioactive so his own huge gold reserves increase hugely in value.  Greed is the factor here, just pure bottom line greed.

You have to love that they actually got permission to film at the real Fort Knox, but the planes were restricted to flying above 3000 feet.  Guy Hamilton remarked on the 'Making of ...' DVD extra that this was simply hopeless, so they instead flew at 500 feet and the military went ape, lol.  The scenes of people fainting were actually the same group of soldiers moving to different areas to 'faint' again :)

5:  This was a toss up for me between The Living Daylights and Goldeneye.  I think Living Daylights pips Goldeneye to the post, but not by much, I love both movies equally.  For new actors taking over the role of Bond both Dalton and Brosnan did phenomenally well and made their mark.  I have mentioned before that Dalton got shafted with his two Bond movies as, after Daylights, they tried to make it more gritty with License to Kill.  I think if Dalton's second outing had been in the same vein as Daylights he may have stayed on.  Brosnan seemed to me to be the perfect mix of Connery and Moore.  He could be funny if he needed to, but he could be cold as ice when required.

I watch a TON of these Bond ranking videos and this, sir, is classy, quality work!  I agree with so much of this, and look forward to your post-watch re-shuffle.  Personally, my favorite Bond movie is For Your Eyes Only, which gets better every single time I watch it, and have seen it more than any other, by far.  It's my GO TO, quintessential 007 flick.

Enjoyed your ranking a lot, much more objective than many on YouTube. Particularly, your comments on soundtracks, which I also love. Totally agree on John Barry's The Living Daylights score and also the often disregarded Michael Kamen score for Licence To Kill. Just to note, my S-tier Bonds would be From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Casino Royale.

I find this rankings so interesting. There is one Bond channel and his favourite Bond film is Moonraker, another adores Thunderball and QoS and another does not like Licence to Kill.
My favourite film by each actor are You Only Live Twice, OHMSS, Live and Let Die, The Living Daylights, Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale.

*     One thing in James Bond lore that barely gets a mention, are the James Bond comic strips from the "Daily Express" newspaper(1958-1984) and the Swedish "James Bond, Agent 007" comic book series by the "Semic Press"(1965-1996). There were 33 original stories by the "Daily Express", and 43 original stories by the "Semic Press" comic book series. As best as can be believed possible, Bond was a Double-O Agent for 32 years(in the Literary and Connery-Lazenby-Moore timeline), 17 years(in the Brosnan timeline), and 13 years(in the Dalton and Craig timeline), and has gone on 226 missions to date(if you take into account 26 films, 76 novels(including 4 "Find Your Fate" novels and 11 young adult novels), 101 original comic book stories and comic book series, 10 video games(that have original stories), 33 original comic strip stories and 2 children's books(both with original stories).

*     Oh I'm sorry, I should explain that timeline stuff lol. There are 5 different "James Bond Era Timelines". Those being, the original Literary Timeline "1920-1980", the Sean Connery-George Lazenby-Roger Moore Timeline yes all 3 are of the same timeline(for various reasons) "1927-1987", the Timothy Dalton Timeline "1940-1991", the Brosnan Timeline "1950-2005", and the Daniel Craig Timeline "1970-2021". A few examples of this format would be, in the years 1946/1953/1976/1986/2006 respectively, is when "Casino Royale", "Quantum of Solace" and "Operation: Cowslip"(the pre-titles sequence of "GoldenEye" takes place). In the years 1952/1959/1982/1992/2012 is when "Skyfall" takes place. In the years 1955/1962/1985/1995/2015 is when the "GoldenEye", "Dr. No" and "SPECTRE" films take place.

*     In the years 1956/1963/1986/1996/2016 is when "From Russia with Love" takes place. In the years 1961/1968/1986/1997/2016 is when "Tomorrow Never Dies" takes place. In the years 1964/1971/1987/1998/2017 is when "Diamonds are Forever" and "The Living Daylights" takes place. In the years 1976/1983/1989/2003/2019 is when "Never Say Never Again" takes place. In the years 1978/1985/1989/2003/2019 is when "A View to a Kill" takes place. I'll give you just one more example here. In the years 1980/1987/1991/2005/2021 is when "No Time to Die" takes place. I hope you kind of get the hang of the whole timeline thing. We've got a 6th timeline coming up when the new Bond film comes out.

Same age as you, and TND was also my first cinema Bond experience aged 12, during the Christmas holidays.  So I'll always have a soft spot for it. Happy times. Pierce is my Bond!
