The Spy Who Loved Me is the film where Roger Moore finally feels completely at home as James Bond—but does this childhood favourite still hold up?

In this review, I revisit Roger Moore’s third 007 adventure and discuss its wonderfully ambitious story, the unforgettable Jaws, Stromberg’s rather questionable master plan, the Lotus Esprit, that iconic Union Jack parachute jump and one of my favourite Bond songs of all time: Nobody Does It Better.

I also explore the film’s impressive cinematography and production design, before scoring it across my usual seven categories: Story, Villains, Gadgets, Locations, Music, Action and Legacy.

As this is the tenth film in my Bond rewatch, I’ll also reveal the updated ranking of every film reviewed so far. Where does The Spy Who Loved Me sit in your own James Bond ranking—and which do you prefer: this or You Only Live Twice?
