South African don't need to have a reason to braai, we will do it everyday

The burglar bars are not for the wild animals, it's for security from crime.

With all our issues, im glad to be South African.

As a South African, I thought it is weird to find out having a light switch outside the bathroom is considered weird to other countries.

Most petrol station service folks are the friendlyest people alive.

Bottle stores being separated from the grocery store is one of the ways we control under age buying and drinking.

It is tradition to learn to drive a manual ...after that you can drive an automatic.

Don't awaken loadshedding 😂 let sleeping dogs lie

Those chicken feet is also called "Runaways"😂

As a South African, I can tell you that every place here is *that part of town*. Burglar bars are to keep out burglars. The fences are to keep out hijackers. Our violent crime rate is extremely high, because our unemployment rates and poverty rates are very high. My suburban neighborhood has an armed security service that patrols our streets and responds to break-ins, because our police are useless.

As a South African, I always appreciate an outsiders perspective on us. Its so hillarious when you realise things you take for granted is actually strange.

The bakkie with people on the back (always on their way to work or back from work), against the rules and so is open liquor

Car Guards and Petrol Attemdents is pretty much giving people in our country some kind of employment..because unemployment is very high..
Our pretrol attendants are very friendly and helpful and take pride in their work...and we love them, they make our day when we visit the petrol station

There are typically no general-purpose power outlets in South African bathrooms due to strict national electrical safety regulations (SANS 10142-1) designed to prevent electric shock hazards posed by the proximity of water and electricity.

Potholes are like playing dodgeball with car and road instead of people 😂

She's oversimplifying the car guard situation. They are making informal employment for themselves (not part of an organisation) and are abundant even in places where cars are not stolen. They will help carry your groceries and are very useful in helping find you an empty spot. If im driving around the city looking for a spot the only way i might find parking is if a car guard waves me down and shows me a bay which might be down an alley etc. The car guards outside large hardware stores earn tips by helping load heavy things into your car

24:39 "now-now" can be anything between 5 minutes and 5 hours, but safe to say in the same day🤣

We call the stick shift a " gear"😂

In the states a power outlet carries 110V, In South Africa our outlets carry 240V. That is enough to kill you. So that's why we don't install electrical outlets int the room that has all the water.

I had a good chuckle now. I am South African and was standing making myself a cup of coffee listening to your video and all the while you were saying a braai is like a barbeque l am cringing, thinking it is NOT a barbeque!! And the next thing she says is that we hate it when people call it a barbeque 😂 When l was growing up in the 70's and 80's we called our swimwear a "cozzy" (slang for a costume) and "goof" meant we are going for a swim. I love this country!!!! I am actually Afrikaans and the amount of amazing and descriptive Afrikaans words we have is staggering.
