I love that the two stars from the original, Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum, are in this one. Two incredible actors, RIP to both.

BTW: the movie Cady is watching in the cinema is Problem Child.

Cape Fear , North Carolina got its name 400 years ago from the treacherous currents that led to so many shipwrecks. The ocean beyond the Outer Banks of North Carolina is known as the Grave Yard of the Atlantic.

The young girl who he’s seeing is Illeana Douglas. In the early 90s she could enslave me with her eyes. Stunning 😍. It was hard to watch the scene when she was assaulted by Cady 🫣

You recognize "that" actor. He was the original cape fear guy in the older version.

Same Bernard Hermann music used from the 1962 original.

Yes he was, one of his best performances.

The shot at 10:24 is called a split diopter shot. It's a pretty cool cinematic technique with a special lens. It keeps both the foreground and background action in focus at the same time. Filmmaker Brian De Palma uses it a lot. That reminds me, you guys should react to his films "Blow Out" and "Dressed to Kill."

You should consider watching the original. Robert Mitchum, Gregory Peck. Both actors have cameos in this movie.

"...thought I recognized that actor...." That actor was Robert Mitchum. He played the original Max Cady in the original Cape Fear (1962). Other actors in this film also starred in the original: Gregory Peck (Cady's attorney) was the original Sam Bowden and Martin Balsam (the judge) was the original police chief.

This is a remake from 1957, starring Robert Mitchumn and Gregory Peck... who both made cameos in this remake. And no, the original movie was based on a novel... no true story at all.

I highly recommend you both see the 1962 version of this movie. Both the main characters were also playing cameos in this movie. Subtle differences, but still a good chilling movie. Have fun!

This is a rare example of the remake surpassing the original masterpiece.

In America, in the 1960s you could smoke virtually anywhere (perhaps not in courtrooms). Limitations began in the 70s, and by the 80s it was quite limited -- in the early 80s (approximately -- as I recall it) airplanes and restaurants both had smoking "areas" where it was still permitted, but very soon after that it was pretty much prohibited EVERYWHERE indoors. By the 90s it started to go a bit too far -- smokers couldn't even smoke outdoors anywhere NEAR the entrance to a building, etc. I was born in the early 50s and LOVED the smell of cigarette smoke -- my bedroom was upstairs, and my parents each smoke 2-3 packs a day, so I was practically a smoker myself. When I went away for a year to college in 1971 and then came back home, I found I HATED the smell of cigarette smoke. I never smoked; I tried once or twice as a teenager, but couldn't bring myself to inhale actual smoke, lol. My parents actually stopped on their own in their late 40s and 50s. I was very proud of them. Neither died of smoking related illnesses.

11:18 It’s called noir atmosphere, it’s meant to distort reality. It’s also psychological and creates a warped nightmarish view of what’s going on in the film.

@CR41489 1 month ago

7:17 It’s called Racquetball.

@otisroseboro5613 1 month ago

I love both this version and the original classics and nice reactions everyone😊

What kind of lawyer says playing racquetball and flirting with a coworker is the same as cheating? We should be a little more exacting in our definitions. That’s a slippery slope.
