I watched Arthur (1981) for the absolute first time, and I honestly have no idea what I just witnessed, but I was laughing the entire time.

Dudley Moore as a filthy rich, perpetually drunk man-child floating through New York City while giggling at his own existence is an absolute fever dream. Between the iconic theme song, John Gielgud dropping immaculate dry humor as Hobson the butler, and Arthur’s complete lack of survival instincts, this movie made zero sense to my modern brain—and that’s exactly why it was incredible.
