Have you seen anyone get busted for unemployment fraud?

The government owes me something for not defrauding them at this point.

If you owe the IRS money and all they do is garnish your federal tax return, then you got off easy.

Who needs a surveillance-state when these people end up ratting themselves out on social media half the time.

I got a refund over $1000 that I didn't think I should have gotten. Impossible to send back. Government didn't understand what I was saying. I put it in a bank account and left it there for years. After about 10 years I finally decided I was OK. Never would ignore a letter from the IRS.😢

Probably a relief to the IRS to have people simply confessing to their fraud online, less time wasted on their end.

The feeling of going to bed at night, without having to worry about opps or cops, is priceless

Them: *commits fraud*
IRS: "You owe money."

this is not only illegal, but it actually makes it harder for people who actually need unemployment to acquire it

Oh yeah, I remember this. I would hang out at a vape shop that this dude worked at. My friend owned the shop, and the dude was sitting there bragging about getting unemployment and getting paid under the table. He sat there and bragged about how he made more than I did going to work when he did fuck all and raked in the money.

The pandemic REALLY showed me how shitty people can be. I worked all throughout the pandemic. I was considered an "essential worker" having to dress up in PPE, a gown, gloves, mask, face shield, when it was summer time. Granted I was in a house working, it was still very hot. I wore that whole PPE get-up for 8 hours or more moving around the whole time.

People that would brag about being "laid off" and they would get so much from unemployment. They saw it as a damn vacation, while I worked my actual ass off. They called us "essential", but treated us like CRAP! WE should've been the ones with bonuses on our paychecks. WE should have been the ones to get more money! DAMN I hate how backwards this BULL is!

Connecticut nailed the scammers during Covid. The state investigated 100,000 people while they were on unemployment in the beginning of Covid. Not only were they kicked off of unemployment , they were told that they cannot receive unemployment ever again unless they pay back every penny.

I am AMAZED that people continue to put their PERSONAL BUSINESS on social media..😒😒🤐

My friend asked me for a job in late 2020. She got the job and was called in for orientation but she didn’t show. I asked her why. She said she changed her mind. I believed her because I didn’t know about all these unemployment payment stuff. Then fast forward summer of 2021, she asked me again to get her the same job. I still got her the job, then I found out she didn’t take the job back then because she was getting $4300/month but she had to prove that she was actively applying for jobs but couldn’t get it. Biggest backstab in my life. We’re no longer friends. I put my reputation on the line to get her the job and I was embarrassed when she didn’t show. When she did work the second time around, she was super lazy because she wasn’t used to working. Thank god not many people know I was the one got her in.

I work for Unemployment Insurance in my state. During the Pandemic, the major priority was to get benefits to people who had no other income and needed money for food and shelter. The government had to come up with a program and Emergency Rules on the fly. Once things calmed down a little and records were updated, UI agencies were able to see what was going on and start deciding what to do about fraud. Then they started going after people and sent letters about the overpayments. People ignored these letters, but now, in my state, they are actively pursuing the liars.

The girl that got $3000 more now owes $18000.
Won't she be surprised when they come and take everything she owns.

Someone tried to file unemployment with my social. I was working and called my company on it. They denied the application of the person and determined it as fraud. I called whoever sent me the letter about the unemployment fraud and they also flagged it in the government system. To be safe, I ended up filing a fraud claim and put a credit watch on my social.

Crazy how they think a phone call is more important than a letter in the mail. The courts care about the paper letter. 😂

I love these people that commit fraud then act all surprised when you have a warrant or they take your tax return.

Idiots: "Man, I totally committed fraud, like SO MUCH.  I should absolutely post a video online admitting to it!"
IRS: "Thanks for making our job much easier."

Someone fraudulent filed unemployment benefits in my name in 2021. Luckily my state mails a letter to ppl current addresses when that process is initiated.   So I was able to report fraud ahead of time. Ppl are horrendous.
