The Acclamator is very underrated

Everyone remembers the Venator. Some remember the Acclamator. But during the Clone Wars, the Republic Navy fielded dozens of other capital ships — corvettes, frigates, and cruisers that rarely made the spotlight but were absolutely essential to the war effort.

Playing Empire At War modded and vanilla really baffled me with how many ships weren’t shown in mainstream Star Wars.

The Republic Navy according to both canon and legends: "We have a wide variety of ships of all sizes with different armaments and capabilities in our ranks so we can always adjust the amount and types of vessels used to each mission profile."

The Republic Navy according to movies and shows: "All we can do is a Venator, but sometimes, for a little variety, we like to put a second Venator into our fleets. And on very rare occasions, when we're feeling really experimental, we'll even add another Venator."

"The Senate has agreed that all home defense fleets must now become part of the Republic Navy. That's what we must do—centralize our forces." ―Palpatine, to Anakin Skywalker

The Empire completely slept on the value to Acclamator could have offered. I know it's due to the Tarkin doctrine and the Emperor's inability to see the smaller picture, but that ship had such a versatile design that I'm certain could have been configured for dozens of roles.

Don’t get me wrong I love a good capital ship but it’s the Corvettes, Cruisers and Frigates that will make or break a good fleet. It was a shame that the Republic over used the Venator. Don’t get me wrong it was a great support ship but it wasn’t meant for front line combat. That’s why we saw so many Venators being destroyed

For the big boys, the old Mandators were replaced by the 3 Vs. The Venator, Vindicator (Heavy Cruiser, later refit as Immobilizer 418s), and the Victory.

Had the gladiator class actually had been built during the clone wars for the republic like it was intended to be it would have made an excellent cruiser and escort ship for the republic.
