My headcanon is that the name "Clone wars" must have been a PR nightmare for the republic. It implies that the war was started by republic and was fought by a army of slaves. It can be a part of Palpatine's plan.

"Like fire across the galaxy, the Clone Wars spread. In league with the wicked Count Dooku, more and more planets slip. Against this threat, upon the Jedi Knights falls the duty, to lead the newly-formed Army of the Republic." ―Yoda

Unrelated to the video, I am a longtime viewer to your channel. I have watched since the order 37 video. Obviously every now and then at first, but eventually as your content evolved I watched even more. Happy to say I am still watching and absolutely loving your videos, hour long videos get me through my work day while I toil with various vehicles. Couldn't get through it without this content.

They weren't regular mercenaries they were Mandalorians. I'll not have the Republic Commandos slandered.

16:45 You have to give it to the Kaminoans - they do their job very thoroughly.

The prequel era is by far my favorite when it comes to the Republic Military, not only did this era have by far the coolest veichles, but the Clone Troopers and Jedi Generals were an incredibly badass combo.

The PDF local forces fighting against eachother or as part of GAR or DA would be actually interesting.

Ooh, now can we get a sequel covering how the Confederacy evolved their Navy from the previous Republic one?
This is why I love the Clone Wars: it covers so many interesting aspects of many of our wars across history because it’s a Galactic Conflict flushed out (and there’s many unknown stories too)

I kinda always assumed the clone wars was mostly fought by local security forces against rebels/loyalists depending on which side each planet went with.  And the droids/clones were only stationed on strategic and/or economic points of interest.  We saw that side of the war in the dark horse comics like with the battle of jabiim.  They only time i can remember for tcw show was the mon calamari civil war

History is written by the victors, I suppose...

The Ruusan Reformation was a mistake. There should've been a standing Republic military made up of the best and brightest of all member systems that focused on anti-pirate operations, conflict intervention, etc and didn't rely on the Jedi.

It would be so cool to get some stories about the ordinary soldiers of both sides of the Clone Wars, Republic and Separatists. People who were in it to defend their homes or because they believed in the cause, not because they were made for that purpose. God bless!

Fire video to watch on the way home from a class, good work!!

The Tarkin family is fuckin based. Absolute fuckin legends all of them

Geetsly gets a video out a day late.
Me: I'm angry I had to wait. I'll never forgive Geetsly for this!
The video details the history and structure of the PSFs, the Judicials, and the Clone Army.
Me: (Getting on my knees) All is forgiven! I bow to your greatness, Grand Master Geetsly. I kiss the ground you walk on, good sir!
LOL.
Also, 40:52-40:57: Also, in case that bit didn't give it away, everything in this video is my favorite era of Galactic Republic Military History.

Where did you get those numbers and ranks?  They’re off slightly from most militaries. It switches from a base 5 to a base 4 as it moves up.

4 troopers (half-squad) is commanded by a corporal. 8 troopers and 1 corporal is commanded by a sergeant, making a full squad. Five full squads is a platoon, with a First Sergeant in one squad. Five platoons is a company, with a sergeant major in addition to the officers. Platoon has a lieutenant. Company has a Captain

Five companies is a battalion, including a Major.

Five battalions is a division, including a Colonel.

Five divisions is a Corps, including a general. 30,000, plus officers, for infantry only.

Vehicles replace the squad in an identical organization chart. 5 to a platoon, 25 to a company, 125 to a battalion, 600 to a division.  A Corps would never be just vehicles, but it would be 3,000 of them.

A mechanized company would be 2 platoons infantry, 2 platoons light armored transport and one platoon armor or self-propelled artillery.

It’s almost universally true. It’s based on four fingers and a thumb, so any idiot can understand it.

Love so much this lore videos, keep doing them please 🙏🏽

Good video 🤟🏻

3:03 are you sure the people behind the reformation weren't secretly pirates and smugglers? All im hearing is "oh hey you're all now defenseless aside from these local yahoos with daddy's old rifle and fuck all else." The looting must've been on par with ours in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Eritrea. God i miss Eritrea

After watching this video, I cannot helped but wondering why the Galactic Empire lasted only for just roughly decades despite the fact that all military leaders with political powers within the Empire are ultimately loyal to Palpatine and can also be toppled by the new rebellion formed from both the loyalists to the Old Republic and the former Separatists while the Roman Empire in the aftermath of the Second Siege of Constantinople by the Arabs that often have to deal with coups and rebellions launched by the Strategos from the themes in Anatolia against the Autokrators, multiple wars, a number of religious schisms within the Orthodox Church and raids from both sides of the Empire survived for so long.

So how? How did Palpatine manage to screw up lives of everyone outside of the Imperial military so easily or even without a second thought while the Roman Autokrators needed to think again and again what should be their next moves to make sure their positions and the remnant of their realm are secured on both sides.
