"give the next hunter the ability to camouflage". I blame you for Lylia

The fact that you can really feel that Red Barrel put their love in this game is insane. They keep updating new trials new gameplay new mechanic, and this all free! The quality, they could toally charge that. I just love this game so much.

The narrative dissonance is also perfect for this type of game. The more you play, the more desensitised you become as a player and in turn your character, it’s easier to hurt and torture, you don’t even think about the inhumane things you’re doing to people because it’s what the game (and in turn Murkoff) wants. It’s addicting to get constant high scores on trials: Easterman encourages you, the post mission brief praises your performance and grades accordingly, you get more exp to spend on upgrades and cosmetics because of this, etc. Its all designed for dopamine.

We all end up this way eventually. Easterman was always right, the trials are inside us now.

This is what i want from a live service game, true passion not a cash grab

I mean it wholeheartedly when I say Red Barrels has never missed when hiring voice actors. There isn’t a single mediocre voice performance in the entire Outlast franchise.

Can we give props to the voice actors? I think they have a lot inportance in making a character truly good, especially in this game.

This game is so slept on, they did the impossible by making a spin off multiplayer horror game not suck, which is something that is incredibly rare.
Dare I say the lore, attention to details and gameplay loop are on par with Whistleblower for me, it really is peak Outlast no matter if you prefer single player games or not, it's that good.
I also adore how well every single game mechanic/gameplay element fits the narrative of the game.

Some of my favourite design choices in this game are..
-The environments are all fabrications of reality, a lot of them are built inside the warehouses of the facility. So you look at a brick wall to realise it's wallpaper, the wind is actually from giant fans.
-They essentially parody modern day live service games by giving you the ability to decorate your personal cell.
-The SOUND is perfect! Being able to figure out exactly where an enemy is just by listening is tuned to almost perfection. And the fact that every enemy SOUNDS different means you can teach yourself how to learn so much from the environment just from listening.

2:46 Amelia isn't dead, they sedated her and hung her up as a message of what happens to "heroes."

I've been playing a long time, and love the lore. Here's a run down on the what's going on.

The people we play as are nicknamed Reagents, we're the rejects of society, homeless, addicts, the unloved. No one cares about us, no one will miss a bunch of homeless people going missing, or even look into it.

The Reagents are being conditioned into sleeper agents, set to accomplish tasks for Murkoff, the CIA, even corporations that pay for the opportunity, wants us to do, often leading to our own deaths. Our characters are conditioned into believing that our objective is more important than our lives, and the lives of others who get in our way. So they'll go beyond their own limits to get their objective done.

The Reagents are forced to experience trauma, pain, humiliation, until their minds are broken down and reshaped.

Red Barrels uses the idea of getting better at the game, as our characters getting more brainwashed. Which is smart.

6:45 the sanity system in lore is explained as an LSD induced freakout, its why the gas is there, its apart of the connection the game has to the real events of MK Ultra. the lore of this game i feel kinda wraps the game all together like a little gift yk.

trials basically having all of its content for the most part be free where you HAVE to earn from actually PLAYING the game and that most of the stuff isn't LIMITED TIME so you can technically do each catalogue, I really like that it keeps the feeling of outlast 1 and 2 with the constant map randomization jump scares, and the difficulty of going against the prime assets and specialists littered around each trial just keeps you on your toes

There's been a huge surge of new players here lately and it's great. More people are getting traumatized and desensitized to it. lol
In all seriousness, Outlast Trials is about as scary a multiplayer game can get. The devs at Red Barrels definitely have strokes of genius with their creativity.

The Imposters you mentioned have had improvements relatively recently. Before they'd just breathe heavy and approach you to try to get close. Now they crouch, act like their suffering from insanity, emote, ask for help, and can even offer you items just to lure you in. It's especially effective on Psychosurgery difficulty, because the names of your allies are hidden (meaning you can't tell where anyone is by looking around).

An aspect of the outlast trials that i personally enjoy and kept me coming back for hundreds of hours is the BRUTAL difficulty the gane features. Try any level on psycho surgery and youll immediately understand how tough it can be. Challenging yourself n getting graded will never get old, trying to speedrun a level you used to struggle on etc.

the whole outlast series is literal peak. red barrels genuinely loves the horror genre and you can tell that within their games.

The silliest part of the game is probably the story. Murkoff is comically evil to the point of being inefficient and pointless. But the game still manages to keep the atmosphere tense at all times.

I love that red barrels actually listens to the community on certain things. Their passion towards their game and their community is why I chose to buy the game when it was first dropped on steam and i do not regret any bit of it. As they've proven to be dedicated to their amazing games ❤

People say that lethal company is the best multiplayer horror game but I believe that title belongs to outlast trials

Red barrels need to add public voice chat in the sleep room, imagine how amazing it would be to hear people chanting while slamming on the table during arm wrestles

i think coyle's functionally a tutorial enemy to help you learn how to operate in trials. his ai is predictable and cant see all too well, so hes very easy to sneak around - but hes also quieter than he first appears if youre, say, winding the cranks on the judge in vindicate the guilty, and his ability to disable rigs means hes still a threat for more experienced players. sure hes a generic predator cop enemy, but on a gameplay level i think his status as easy to game but with some surprises if you fuck up keeps him relevant. loved the video!

This game needs so much more love from the community, red barrels deserves it for their work.
