I think the thing I really like about this variant is that it's a simple idea, but you couldn't play it on a real board, making it a uniquely digital boardgame.

"I hope that was a bet and at least he got some money out of it" most brutal comment you could give on a game omg

5:42 Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM)

"I'll win the rook... oh wait I can win the king" 😂

The amount of times Tony (if that's even his real name 🧐) has mentioned closing all his tabs with that shortcut never gets old. I hope he mentions it every time it comes up.

"Does my opponent have any pieces left? I don't really have that answer" LOOK IN YOUR BOTTOM LEFT CORNER LMAO, it tells you all the captures you've done you know exactly what quantity of what pieces they have😭

EDIT: he found it at 26:41, lmao
nevermind
still funny though
"Is that cheating?" NO??? THEY KNOW THAT INFO TOO ITS MUTUAL INFO 😭

4:15 Wasn't expecting that. It's interesting that in this version of chess you can make the illegal move that puts your king in danger so long as you don't know about it. Fog of War is such a simple mechanic to add to this classic game yet it changes the experience so much. Makes me want to see what a Fog of War version of Go would play like.

my headphone had just cut from 13:51 to 14:18 without me realizing and i just thought that you were baffled at your analyzing skills which left you speechless.

I love this one. It puts so much emphasis on setup and information retention.

1:52 lmao I like how chest masters always thinking there same crazy specific strategy, but sometimes people like myself just be moving their pieces and seeing what happens cause memorizing all that stuff is too much

7:25  bro just plays chess for so long…

This is one of my favorite variants. I think you should play infinite chess though the pieces can literally go forever

10:22 you actually had the information to figure out where the knight was, because on the previous move you could see b4, but after the knight moves your pawn can no longer move to b4. Therefore the knight is on b4.

Furthermore, the knight cannot see the bishop, and if anything else could see the bishop it probably would have been taken. Therefore you could reasonably conclude that the knight move was not in response to your bishop move, therefore it is unlikely that he was challenging the bishop and you should've been looking for what attacking moves he could be doing with the knight, which again probably would lead you to realize the knight was on b4, and that your bishop was actually completely safe.

27:31 if you hadn't moved the queen back your opponent would have walked right into check. Kind of funny in hindsight

i was searching about fog of war but i didn't find any good channels to watch this game on but now i saw your channel ty for your content

21:06 captured pieces listed on the bottom-left corner, isn't they?

@10:13 A really interesting trick with the fog here that you missed, for tracking where a piece moved -- and with that info I think it would've been enough for you to swing the outcome of the game :o
when your opponent moved his knight, the square on b4 became fogged
"You can only see squares that your pieces can move to" -- your pawn could previously move 2 squares to that space, so you could see it
But when the knight moved there your pawn was no longer able to move there legally, so the square became hidden, the only reason that square would now be fogged would be if your opponent's last moved piece (which you knew was the knight) had moved onto that square and started blocking it.
Unlucky, and admittedly I only realized it a turn or two later too when I was thinking it over, so definitely not blaming you for not catching that during the few seconds as it happened ^^',

I really love watching fog of war chess! I hope you'll do some more videos on it :D
And I hope you can use this trick in some of them too! :D

(Short version of the tip: squares in front of your pawns being fogged means a piece is blocking them, both the one square normally infront of the pawn anywhere, and the square 2 ranks ahead of their starting positions)

5:30 its called the icbm

13:37 "if the queen's here I don't wanna find that out the hard way" proceeds to play knight d5 anyways

Can't say I'm surprised about this one, lack of information means there's an element of luck involved. Even true mastery of this variant would involve losses.
