This omits a 4th group of players who weren't getting all the content for free but were paying for the subscription expecting it would allow them to buy characters as they came out, who got the most screwed by these changes.

They are just banning everyone who voices any sort of concern on discord, that is a great sign

Have fun in your travels. Don't you worry about schedules.

There are a couple of problems with the move to Steam as I see it.

1) 45 bucks for founder pack owners to play the game on Steam. I guess that means they commit to run the Tempo launcher in perpetuity? It comes off as a move to milk some extra money out of entrenched players. Like they try to double dip on players who were willing to buy a founders pack once.

2) 45 bucks for new players. This is really banking on the game being the hottest commodity out there, because it will be a really tough sell for someone who watched some gameplay to drop 45 bucks to try out the game.

3) 20 bucks per character is a balancing nightmare in the making. It brings back the pay 2 win argument in a bigger way than ever before. If Stelle or any other character in the future is overtuned, you will get farmed in ranked for a few days if you won't buy the character at the very least. If they are undertuned, then the sales of that character will surely suffer. And I have no doubt this will happen because ever since they introduced item packs, one of the two was without fail overtuned and farmed the ranked queue for a few days before they got emergency nerfed.

4) The game competes with autobattlers on Steam, most autobattlers are f2p or cost 10-20 bucks, often without ingame purchases.

5) The merch drop with the exclusive Stelle skin now feels extra scummy because at the time there was no way of knowing that Stelle would have to be bought with real money.

Some possible solutions if they wanna maintain the new business model in spirit:

1) Release the game on Steam for 5 bucks with only Vanessa unlocked, and make Pyg and Dooley buyable for 20 bucks as well. This would make the transition for enfranchised players mostly seemless, who's gonna complain about 5 bucks? And it would make the hurdle for new players a lot smaller.

2) The game needs a beta server. Recruit players to play on a beta server with the new cards for the next patch and do bug fixes, unintended interactions and design mistakes. Players WILL do this for free 100%. Even 2 weeks of beta would be huge at maintaining a better balance and keep all the characters on an even playing field, which should be the goal regardless. There will always be a meta, obviously, but how much stronger the meta is compared to everything else does matter for longterm enjoyment and growth.

I don't think many people are going to buy it for $45 + $20 dlcs. Most steam andys will wishlist it and wait for 50% off.

The terrible communication, the rug pulls, the backtracking, silencing criticism with perma bans... It's sad to see such a great game fall apart in real time due to terrible management, planning and a lack of direction. Reynad refuses to accept reality and keeps blaming the criticism on bots and witch hunts. He's actually delusional.

Paying for Stelle is the main issue, when they said in the previous patch that heroes will be unlockable with gems. This obviously misleads player to save gems/purchase subs in anticipation of it. Like why the fk would I buy a sub if I knew the gems I get from chests will become worthless.

I hope you enjoy your stop in Colombia. Glad to have you here!!

Very insightful. TY and enjoy your holiday.

It's wild how anyone talking about the changes in the subreddit or on discord are getting instant banned
