Thank you Jimmy I am currently a SDA try to navigate my way to the church. This is incredibly helpful.

My dad  raised SDA. It was quite the family scandal when he converted to catholicism.  I'm glad he did, though.

How many prophecies can a person get wrong and still be held as legitimate?

Thank you so much for covering this case. My father is Seventh-day Adventist. I went to the seventh day Adventist school, as a child and I always thought Ellen G white was a false prophet, the fact that she stated the end of the world, and it didn’t happen. That should tell people right there that not to listen to anything that she says when I was 12 I converted to Catholicism And I pray and try to convince my father to convert to the one true faith he is 65 years old, but I pray that he will.

I was a SDA for two years quite some time ago (on my way to becoming Catholic during the pontificate of JP2.) The people in my local church were very nice to my family and I felt terrible about leaving but I wasn't convinced of their claims after a while. A lot of SDA's anti-Catholic eschatology caused me to seek out the "Catholic explanation" and so they're actually in a sense responsible for my eventual conversion to Catholicism. (I took a short detour back through the Lutheran Church on my way home.)

Mr. Akin, thank you for this video. As a former SDA and now Catholic, I appreciate you tackling this subject. My husband and I have a YouTube channel that explains Catholicism to Adventists. We also wrote a book, It's Okay NOT to be a Seventh-Day Adventist. I was on the Journey Home program on EWTN in 2008. I spent seven years after leaving Adventism ministering an online forum to former SDAs. We are regular guests on Gary Michuta's "Hands on Apologetics," discussing Adventist theology. If you ever have any other questions, let us know.

Thank-you Mr. Akin. I grew up within the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and had initially started RCIA last Fall, but had to stop due to family related conflict pertaining to my Fiancé being Catholic etc. So I have switched to personal research for the time being, making videos/resources like this are extremely helpful in informing me and hopefully my SDA loved ones of the deceit and miss information robbing them of a more full rest in Christ.

Seeing click bait channels such as Sermons room spread more un-researched assumptions from random articles and comspiracy theory books certainly doesn't help. It hurts to watch them fall prey to such things, such literal deception. I know how it feels to live in that constant fear that everything is a conspiracy. And its videos such and this and people such as you, The Beems (SonBeem Productions), Trent Horn, and channels such as 'How To Be Christian', Catholic Truth and Cross The Tiber, that help me to remember that there is even more rich deepth in what Christ has given us to serve Him, that there are others going through this. That I am not alone.

Thankyou and may The LORD grant you all much peace and wisdom to reach many for His namesake💖

Wow, I went to SDA school and have a lot of extended family who are SDA (though I am not). Still, I’ve been around it all my life — I got good things from my exposure to it, but in light of what you’ve covered here I’m grateful I went another direction. Really enlightening! Thanks for these two episodes.

Thank you Jimmy. I have been SDA but are now in RCIA.

Former SDA now Catholic, thank you for both of these these fascinating episodes! Couple of things: Did you hear about or consider addressing the stories of her holding up a large, heavy family bible for long stretches of time while quoting passages? I’d be interested to know if you think such phenomena are indicative of divine inspiration or what you make of them? I recall hearing these stories growing up. Lastly I was surprised at my own sense of disappointment and scandal to hear she frequently ate oysters and meat; that childhood programming keeps me away from shellfish even now. God bless and keep up the great work!

As a former SDA I thank you for this.

Growing up in the church, I always thought that she was impoverished her entire life . What made me question her with her stance on me considering Jesus ate meat…

I came to believe that it was due to the injury she had as a child and simple faith .

After hearing how she profited from it, I am rethinking that .

Would you please consider doing video on SDA    doctrine with catholic answers, or just on your channel, separate from mysterious world?

Great work. As a former Adventist, I started researching and saw the true colors of SDA and left since.

Thank you Jimmy and Dom. Clear, concise, factual and fair as always. Have a great weekend!

The conference leaders came up with the conditional prophecy idea to cover of "worms"  but it is not a conditional prophecy. She didn't tell those people to repent or.... the results were blamed on future SDAs.

Thank you once again for this balanced, fair and accurate treatment of EGW. I would think that even a Seventh Day Adventist could learn from it and not take away a feeling of condescension or insult. Good job.

Excellent work, Jimmy Akin. Thanks a mil. 👍

Yup - ex 4th gen SDA … I researched on my own and found diary entries from her when she traveled and said that she was eating chicken soup and than talking about the same trip in the church magazine she said people should prep and travel with bread and fruit 👀 and not mentioning that she had chicken soup.

Thank you so much for doing these episodes! I’m a Catholic, but I attended a rather well known Adventist university. It’s a good school and I greatly appreciated the education I received there and the numerous friendships I made. It was certainly a culture shock; before attending the university I had never heard of Ellen White. There was something of an obsession on campus with “The Spirit of Prophecy,” some people seemed to hold her on the same level as the Holy Family. As an outsider looking in I was honestly quite baffled by the following she had.

On one occasion the school hosted an entire scholarly symposium on her in which the band performed a new piece of music composed by one of our professors in her honor. I played in the band, but the most memorable event of the evening was when two of the scholars present got into a rather heated argument over her prophecies, in the band we would later refer to this event as “Adventists gone wild.” I believe the outcome of the debate was, much to the chagrin of the pastor moderating, that Ellen White was not a prophet but was deeply inspired. Her books were required reading in many of our classes. It always seemed rather ironic to me that we would start each semester with a lecture on the evils of plagiarism, and then immediately be assigned a reading from Ellen White.

I appreciate your approach to this episode and the sensitivity you showed to the feelings and beliefs of others. It was quite charitable. Unlike many other resources, I would feel comfortable sharing these episodes with my SDA friends.

Great job on the episodes!

Awesome program! You were very fair, Jimmy.

. . . And the cornflake guy is on the list for a future episode???
Either just his "intresting" beliefs or also info on the fight with his brother would make a fun episode.
