I’m from Indonesia, and since I was a kid I’ve always dreamed of becoming a pilot. But there was something that stopped me from reaching that goal. Even now, I’m still really into the aviation world, and for me, Flight 574 is still one of the most terrifying accidents ever. Everything turned into a dead end, navigation failure, disorientation, poor pilot knowledge, it all made me shake the first time I saw it back then. But I’m not traumatized by it. The investigation team actually taught me a lot about aviation, and I really respect all the work they did.

no airline provides training for specific IRS failures situations in the SIM. Maybe this can come as a LOFT scenario ( like a scenario situation to see how pilots deal with different possible failures ) .
As a matter of fact similar situations of aircraft losing attitude reference happened before and after this crash to another companies.
However most pilots know not to touch these switches without deep knowledge of the system and following the correct
QRH procedure...

30 seconds is a long time to go without an artificial horizon while the digital instruments reset. All commercial aircraft should have analog artificial horizons as backups for situations like this or electrical failures that disable the digital artificial horizon.

No matter how fucked up an airplane is, investigations into why there was a crash will always find blame with the pilots of those fucked up airplanes.
