Every Mike and James video feels like a Pokemon hanging out with its evolved form

This one CRIES OUT for presenting the same four gadgets to Baz and Ebbers and comparing their reaction! Pasta-loving Barry will go MENTAL.

My fave thing about this video is the fact that at the end Mike said “this video had everything”, that was really reminiscent of the old fridgecam days with the super old early format from way back!!!!!

Pizzelles and hand pasta makers! That one was an instant hit of nostalgia. I remember being a little boy. Every year before Easter and Christmas my grandmother would call me and my little sister up to my grandparents' apartment. She would have their dining room table and a folding "kiddie table" set up covered in fresh linen. We would spend all day making ravioli using what looked like stainless crinkly ice cube trays. Place the dough on top, press down, in with the ricotta filling, folder back over, rolling pin to seal, crimp, and cut. They would be stored in Macy's clothing gift boxes separated into layers with coarse semolina flour and waxed paper. Our reward for this would be A) a dish of the ravioli we just made, and B) a cookie tin full of pizzelles my grandmother made the night before. Her iron was less fancy, but she could knock those things out like nobody's business. The ravioli, along with massive casserole dishes full of meatballs, sausage, and sauce would be loaded up into my mom's car the next day to head to relatives (Yonkers, NY, USA) for dinner. Bread and desserts were always either made by whichever relative was hosting, or straight from Arthur Avenue.

Pizzelles remained a holiday tradition for us, even after my grandmother could no longer handle making fresh pasta and "all that nonsense," the various families got older and dispersed, and it was just the immediate family. I don't even like coffee, but plain pizzelles with a nice cup of coffee is one of my favorite things, as rarely as I have them now. My grandmother is gone, but occasionally my mom gets nostalgic and makes a batch. Always in those same round Swiss cookie tins.

"We almost didn't get angry at something" was a great line to end.  😂

I love James being back in so many videos. I love the channel regardless but he makes it feel complete. This was super fun to watch.

When a fluid keeps its shape and looks like "it stands still" its called laminar flow. Depending on the pipe or tube you can even make some fancy figures out of it.

My Italian grandparents used to drape the hot cookie over the handles of wooden spoons to make "taco" shaped pizzelle, and fill with plum preserves and (unsweetened) whipped cream.   So while maybe not traditional as ancient Rome, it's definitely traditional in some families in a modern sense.

For the rods and ravioli mold, I can see having several and making it a group activity. And while everyone makes the pasta, they can sip on the sprizzers.

The Sprizzer makes much more sense as a piece of equipment for a catering/party business than as some home kit.

No the ravioli molds are not "Hand carved" as said at 17:00. They are "hand finished" which means they are made in a CNC machine and maybe you get a bit of hand sanding, but hand finished could just refer to them putting the oil on.

James and Mike both look like they're having so much fun and it makes this a joy to watch

This video made me think about what kind of traditional gadgets we have in Norway and there are quite a few! For example the krumkake-maker, goro-maker, waffle iron(not hard waffles), takke. A video series for Christmas could be Christmas cookies/biscuits from around the world! Norway has loads of different ones and I reckon it must be the same for other nations as well😊

I loved the moment of realisation for James when he suddenly remembered that pre-batching cocktails is a thing! BTW, you can happily batch Old Fashioneds as well.

My grandparents are from Abruzzi. Grandpa made his own pizzelle iron like the one you showed with his initial on one side. They made thousands one by one in the basement kitchen for our family Christmas get together. We now all use electric pizzelle irons. The ones that make them as thin as they need to be are expensive. We had hundreds at our wedding and we try to make them for Christmas to give as gifts.

On the ravioli mold, I could see someone doing a bunch of "regular" ravioli and then having a special flower ravi as a topper for the plate, almost like an edible garnish. That way you could save a lot of time, but still have a little wow factor.

It's kind of funny how the pasta rods are being sold as an expensive piece of equipment, when the original version was either a reed or a clever way to reuse the metal spokes from a broken umbrella.
