This was a test piece at the end of my quite long airbrush method video that makes a fun little video on its own. Developing texture by building up dry coats of paint with an airbrush then a little clear to give it some sheen.

Awesome way of getting texture for a vinyl roof. i've used the green frog tape before and had issues with it leaving residue as you mention so now all I use is now is the Tamiya tape and I have not had any issues at all with the tape leaving any residue.

I use spray cans. Don't have a airbrush yet. I use Rust-Oleum specialty lacquer gloss black and spray from a distance of about 15"-18" in many light short bursts to achieve the texture effect a 1:1 vinyl top has. It takes many coats until full coverage is achieved. I then seal it with a coat or two of Mr super clear matt. Great job by the way.

I use automotive texture coating. It comes in black and it is great for doing under carriages, dashboards. Urethane based, no primer needed, just a clean surface. Give it a try.

Did you thin the Vallejo or are you shooting straight as-is, straight from the bottle?
