American reaction to "Banned in Europe, Sold in America: The Shocking Truth About Our Food" and I am genuinely disturbed by what I just found out. As someone who spent 25 years eating American food without thinking twice about it, this American reacts video wrecked me. European food reaction content always humbles me but this one hit different because it is literally about my own childhood diet.

๐Ÿฌ WHAT'S ACTUALLY IN THE FOOD
Europe allows around 400 food additives while the US allows over 10,000. Europe uses a precautionary principle, meaning ingredients are banned until proven safe. The US uses a risk based approach, meaning ingredients are allowed until proven dangerous. That difference alone explains almost everything in this video.

๐Ÿญ SKITTLES: USA vs UK
UK Skittles use natural colorings like beetroot, grape skin extract, beta carotene, and turmeric. US Skittles use Red 40, Yellow 5, and used titanium dioxide for years, an additive linked to potential DNA damage that Europe banned outright. A 2022 lawsuit claimed Skittles were unfit for human consumption. It mysteriously disappeared. Mars only removed titanium dioxide from US Skittles in 2025.

๐ŸŒˆ FROOT LOOPS: Neon vs Natural
European Froot Loops use carrot and paprika extracts. American Froot Loops use Red 40, Yellow 5, and Yellow 6, the same dyes linked to hyperactivity in children in a 2007 study. Europe slapped warning labels on them. America just left the ingredient list as is.

๐Ÿง LITTLE DEBBIE CHRISTMAS TREE CAKES
Loaded with Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1, TBHQ, and titanium dioxide. Basically a science experiment wrapped in plastic and I used to eat these for breakfast.

๐ŸŸ MCDONALD'S FRIES: 4 Ingredients vs 19
European McDonald's fries are potatoes, oil, and salt. American McDonald's fries have 19 ingredients including TBHQ, which is restricted in the EU. I tried European McDonald's fries myself and the difference is wild.

๐Ÿฅค FANTA: Real Juice vs Neon Soda
European Fanta has real fruit juice, natural coloring from carrots and pumpkin, and 22.5g of sugar. American Fanta has 73g of sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and Yellow 6 and Red 40 dye with zero actual orange juice.

๐Ÿง POP-TARTS: Only 3 Flavors Allowed in Europe
Europe only allows three Pop-Tart flavors while America has dozens loaded with Red 40, Yellow 6, Blue 1, and TBHQ. Watching the flavor list was almost as shocking as the ingredient list.

๐Ÿ” CHICKEN: Chlorine Washed in America
The US allows chlorine washed chicken. The EU, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, and Canada have all banned it. This was the part of the video that genuinely disturbed me the most.

This whole video made me question pretty much everything I grew up eating, and I want to know what you all think. If you are watching from Europe, drop a comment and let me know if you have noticed a difference in the food when you have visited the US. And if you are in the US, has any of this changed how you look at what is on your plate?

If you want to see more reactions like this, hit subscribe, I post a brand new video every single day.
