British military are known all over the world for their superior training. Our SAS are known even by USA military & admired.

The bayonet part makes me laugh. Many years ago I was in the Grenadier guards regiment and during training we went through Bayonet training which entails attacking straw filled dummies. One one occasion one of the lads tripped and fell face first against the dummy’.
The training sergeant gave him a look and said  “That’s the spirit lad, IF you can’t stab them, bite them”

My son joined up at 17, one of the most difficult things I had to do was sign him up, difficult but very proud mum moment

Watching this, I suddenly burst out laughing because I had just seen a video about Pete Hegseth addressing young cadets at West Point, and his ridiculous attempts to sound tough and "soldierly." He should watch that British instructor for a lesson in military composure and authority. Respect is earned, not given. Authority is gained by example, not by spewing slogans, lies, and pop culture references.

U visit London & see the royal guards wearing black bearskins & red uniforms at Buckingham palace.Dont mess with them they are some of the most disciplined men in our forces & very tough brave soldiers We may be a small country but we are very proud of our services.

All British Regiments have bayonet training, its part of our heritage and combat system. My Father was in the 2nd Queen's Royal Regiment in France 1940. His platoon had to clear a farm defended by Germans. They did a bayonet charge and he relived it in dreams for years! He told me you never forget the look on the face of a guy you take out with a bayonet! Glad I never had to myself!

If you want to know about the history of British paras, go look up Pegasus Bridge 5June 1944. There was a young actor involved Richard Todd, who fought there.
Numerous other actions like the Falklands.

To quote the Spartan king Agiselaus ii, when asked why do few Spartans, he asked every person to sit down when a trade was called, all the Spartan remained standing, and like the Spartan army the U.K. Forces are highly trained.

An interesting film was the ghurkas on exercise versus the US marines in poland. The ghurkas beat them despite being out numbered

I lived in a garrison town, and witness a naive man make a mistake that he probably still has nightmares about, he had recently arrived and taken over a pub in the town,  he had within days put a large sign in the Pub window saying,
"NO PARAS "

And if they manage to survive this, they may be good enough to join the SAS in the future.

Doesn't matter what rank the soldier they need to rely on themselves and each other when in a battle and not make mistakes.

My uncle was a para, in WW2, he was at Arnhem (a bridge too far) where, at 19yo and out of ammo, he prepared to defend himself, with his bayonet. He was taken prisoner and, on his release, his bayonet was returned to him. Later, during the Toxteth and Croxteth riots, he stood in his back garden, stabbing anyone, who came over the fence. His bayonet was lashed to a broom handle and a few potential house breakers limped away from that night, with stab wounds in their thighs and buttocks!😁

The British military is one of a handful of military’s around the world that still do bayonet training, the US abandoned bayonet training in 2010, the British have been fighting wars for over 1000 years, the last bayonet charge the British did was in Afghanistan in 2011.

I was just 18 years old when I joined the RAF (Royal Air Force) and I was one of the oldest amongst my intake. One of my fellow recruits was only just 16 at the time. 16 and 17 year old recruits require their parents/guardians permission to join all three British military services.

Endurance is important skill for paras probably why they had to go back and start again. Ex para Karl Bushby seems to have learnt that lesson well. He is currently on the last stretch of his 28 year round the world walk. His journey and exerperience is extraordinary. I grumble about a 28 minute walk sometimes!

Tyler, you're siting in the USA and have no idea what's war. Think about your country is the most agressor on the globe, starting war after war, but every time outside of your own soil.

the British Army is no way near the biggest in the world BUT they are one of the best

One of my younger brothers was a para: did two tours in Afghan and Iraq; never the same when he came home - effed right up. Told me stories you wouldn't believe.

Respect from Canada also!! 🥰

Americans please note the terminology: it's the basis of a soldier's mindset. The British army does not train to 'face the enemy', 'fight the enemy', 'take him down', 'take him out',  or 'shoot him'. Instead, they train to KILL him. No euphemisms to hide behind, always just the brutal fact.

In order of scary regulars(army navy airforce) marines and commandos, the the bad ass brigade’s SBS,SAS and the Gurkhas. You don’t need many you need just enough to do the job and go home afterwards to your family and friends
