Never seen the making of this is great the eagle has landed is one of my favourite movies since I was a kid and still watch it now and again awesome movie
One of my favourite films, I’ve visited Malpledurham by car. The village and Mrs Grey’s house all still intact. The Mill is also still there and I signed the visitors book inside the church (2011)
I can not believe that anyone has bothered to add a single comment about this documentary? I was enthralled from the beginning to the end. I’ve watched the film many times on TV and I enjoyed it every time it was aired, I thought all the actors in this film were magnificent, especially Donald Sutherland as the IRA man Everybody on the set of this film seem to be enjoying themselves which was great as it comes across in the film as well. I just want to say a big thank you to you Sergei for taking the time to upload this great documentary/the making of the Eagles has landed.👍👍👍😁🇬🇧
I have this movie on Special edition DVD with add film and interviews...a good film with a good cast and one of my favorite movies 💎 Auckland New Zealand 2026
I was fortunate to be working down the road from Mapledurham (just west of Reading actually - not near Oxford) which is a Thamesside village. Lunch times I would go to watch the filiming and was lucky to be present when several action sequences were filmed. Saw Micheal Caine once. The main action in the Church was actually filmed inside a massive marque with the church re-created inside and the shots of soldiers firing from the church tower where on a 12 foot replica filmed with the camera on the ground pointed up. Often wish I'd taken some pictures.
The interview with John Sturges is very interesting. This was his last movie and he was mostly absent during editing, which may have hurt the quality. I don't get a sense he wanted to call it quits.
