I own the Amalgam but weathered version. I love the realistic weathering treatment. It definitely brings more vibe to the model.

Thanks,guys! I have the BBR one with the same base. Very nice. Amalgam 1/18 are made in Asia. Their 1/8 models are made in England (for the most part). Have 1/18 Amalgam Ferrari 333SP in Momo colors from '97 Lemans. Really nice! 499P a beautiful car..

Thank you so much for uploading exactly the comparison I have been searching for over the past few months. I have been going back and forth between these two models endlessly, and this video was genuinely extremely helpful.

Interestingly, although the carbon-fibre weave on the Amalgam seems technically more faithful — including the way the weave direction changes across different parts of the real car — at 1/18 scale it almost looks a little too prominent to my eyes. It makes the surface feel slightly busier than I expected.

I‘ve got two questions.

First, regarding the cockpit detail: the Amalgam appears to reproduce the corrugated cockpit ventilation/air-conditioning ducting — the flexible driver-cooling hose visible through the side window — whereas I cannot see the same detail on the BBR model.

Is that ducting actually omitted on the BBR, or is it simply difficult to see because of the darker side glazing and the viewing angle?

Second, I would be very interested to know how the sponsor decals compare in person. The BBR does not seem to show the large, one-piece decal-film effect that can sometimes be noticeable on Spark or Looksmart models.

Even so, is the Amalgam still noticeably cleaner in terms of print sharpness, visible carrier film, raised decal edges, and how smoothly the graphics sit on the body surface?

Amalgam has become Overpriced China made Junk.

Amalgam makes awful models in 1/18 scale 🤢 For example the carbon fiber looks too large and toyish. Also these bolts imitatings look too large too. And they have glue marks around them. This model should be cost around 400 euros. Not more. BBR model isn't perfect, but away better than Amalgam's one. At least because of more realistic carbon fiber decals and bolts imitating. And yes because of the price
