On October 10, 2020, locomotive C571 suffered damage to its cylinder piston rings and underwent extensive repairs.

Six years later, the "Lady" has made a complete comeback and returned to the SL Yamaguchi train.

Like a phoenix, this locomotive has risen again from the brink of being scrapped, and has followed a tumultuous history, but this time too, it has made a miraculous comeback.

On this first day back in service for the SL Yamaguchi, Yamaguchi Prefecture launched its first destination campaign in nine years.

As a catalyst for tourism in Yamaguchi Prefecture, the SL Yamaguchi, pulled by the "Lady," attracted considerable attention.

At the departure ceremony, the Governor of Yamaguchi Prefecture and actress Ryoko Kuninaka gave the departure signal, and with the sound of its whistle, locomotive C571 took its first step into a new chapter in history.

C571, a locomotive now 89 years old, has spent more than half its life running as the SL Yamaguchi-go.

We sincerely hope that we can continue to see this magnificent sight for as long as possible.
