In this video I'm sharing the recording of the live Q&A I did on Instagram on Sunday 6th September 2026, straight from the g&g shop floor!

As it's the first week of our Sewtember challenge – celebrating all the handmade garments you already have, love and actually wear – I'm chatting all things trousers! I share some of my favourite trouser patterns, great fabrics for making them and tips and resources to help with trouser fitting.

I also show you three of my own pairs of Sew House Seven Oxbow Pants and chat about how I've adapted the fit, used different fabrics and styled them through the seasons.

Thank you Lauren and watched on catch up. Just to say I wash cashmere in my machine on cold wool cycle which should work for the merino wool fabric. Love the merino wools you showed and very interested in the trouser suggestions. I am someone who thinks my body is too difficult to fit trousers as waist to hip ratio is way out. Slim hips and legs and wider waist. I’d love to make a pair of smarter trousers but have managed the wide leg elastic waist well now. Many thanks for you video 😊

Great tips for trousers. Do you have any fabric for a cropped trench coat for the new Tilly pattern. I like the look of a standard trench coat fabric but don’t really know what to use.

Totally agree re the Oxbow trousers with brilliant instructions. I am lucky with fit, I only have to pinch an inch out of the back rise. Husbands who know nothing about sewing and fit 😂😂😂😂. Know that one! Great to see you and all the lovely new fabrics. 😊 Lynne
