Was Endryd Haar A Thunder Warrior? - 40K Theories

40K Theories

28,714 views

One of the oldest Space Marines to fight during the Horus Heresy, Endryd Harr was famed for his immense size, strength and durability; all of which were far greater than those of a typical Space Marine. Were these traits simply due to natural genetic variation? Or could he have been a warrior whose existence predated the creation of the Legiones Astartes as a whole?

This is an updated and remastered video, featuring additional information and correcting a few mistakes that were present in the previous version.

Perhaps instead of being an actual thunder warrior, he was one of the last to be recruited and as such was undergoing the process of the transformation into one, but because the age of the thunder warrior was over, endryd was never fully transformed and instead part way through was switched to becoming an astartes, so in essence he could be a hybrid, this would explain his size and other biological anomolies and the later implants

Haar beating the ever living snot out of Abbadon is one of my favourite moments of Saturnine. One of 2 marineS who truly put the fear of death into Ezekyle

"Oh Lawd, he comin'"

He was so large that he even looked down on Justaerin Terminators. In Saturnine there's a bit where a Justaerin Terminator is stomping towards him, so he grabs the Terminator and rams its head into a wall, crushing the helmet and head within.

He was a beast.

I am convinced the Emperor might’ve tried to save the Thunder Warriors by turning them into Astartes but Endryd was one of the only success stories. After realizing this and knowing there was next to no chance of saving the rest this way the Emperor decided to cull the rest of them but allowed Endryd to live.

I love the fact that this guy was so angry that he not only endured 7 mortal blows, but he also never got the butchers nails! 🤣 imagine the conversation!

“We must all be implanted with the butchers nails so that we might also experience the burden of unending rage, and thus become close to our gene father.”

“We must make exception for our librarians, tho. The nails will react poorly with them.”

“True. Anyone else we should consider for exemption?”

Distant roar

“Endryd Haar.”
“Yep, must definitely.”
“He’s already angry enough Without the nails!”
“Imagine what he’d be like With them?? Shudder…”

Tell me hound, do you still dream of Thunder?

The emperor was not one to simply throw away assets for little reason. I imagine a few thunder warriors were selected for an experimental transition to astartes. If the results were less than acceptable, then perhaps the few successes were placed among the legions while the thunder warriors were deemed extraneous on the whole. Pragmatic.

He was almost certainly a Thunder Warrior. The bit where he mentions his "dreams of thunder" was more or less an nod by GW to his true origins.

@jack_L858 1 year ago

Maybe he was so swole because his faith in the Emperor was so strong 💪

Well... If he wasn't, GW certainly said enough to make it plausible.

Good night sweet prince and dream of thunder.

Some really odd symbolism in Har... 7 wounds might gesture to the story of Enki and Ninhursag... Har was apparently also a name William Blake used for an elderly Adam... And Enki and Ninhursag might be the basis for the imagery of Eve coming from a rib as Ninhursag created daughters to heal wounds Enki suffered, one being to a rib...

I'm not sure why they'd parallel him to Adam.... Unless... Unification as an analogy to Eden and it didn't work out well...? Also riven coming from to rive, so, to tear/break up...

I would definitely love to see like a Space Marine style/old school God of war game just based on him.

@newhope33 1 year ago

If I remember rightly he was among the first marine recruits, First there was prototypes like Leetu then there was a small groups from each legion where made to a higher standard than normal marines to test the gene seed from each legion, they where generally serperior to the later mass produced marines.

It's in one of the early Heresy books.

@raphie8488 1 year ago

There is the possibility that some of the later and younger Thunder Warriors might have being more stable. With some of them becoming Astartes. They could even have used some of those for testing purposes. To test the Astartes implants, or as a test to stabilize the Thunder Warriors. To make sure that the Astartes are more stable then the Thunder Warriors.

One has to wonder how Haar came to be in posession of wargear not only originating from the Terrawatt Clan, but also the Legio Custodes.

With regards to Haar rejecting any brotherhood to the Thunder Warriors that tells us nothing for he said the exact same thing of the Warhounds / World Eaters. He had more than one past he shed by the time of becoming a Blackshield.
