Arcane Season 2 and the overall response from the writers genuinely makes me think Arcane Season 1 was lightning in a bottle. What the fuck happened?

It gets worse. In a new interview, another writer, Amanda Overton, admitted she got that multiverse plot from a Marvel movie. That's why the ending is like that: they literally got inspired by Endgame. Four years of work. Four. Years.

Christian Linke melting down on Reddit that people are making fun of his shit writing is a very on brand thing for him to do tbh

@MinusX01 1 year ago

Vi basically says to Caitlyn in the final act "HOW COULD YOU ARREST MY TERRORIST SISTER WHO KILLED DOZENS OF PEOPLE INCLUDING YOUR OWN MOTHER!" and the writer's try to paint it like Caitlyn did something wrong, I dunno how we went from season 1 to this garbage

“THIS SHOW ISNT STUPID! YOU’RE STUPID!!!” -Christian Linke

People who cannot accept that they've made mistakes are incredibly tiring.

Hey remember when Tony Gilroy decided to use his time off from Covid to re-draft Andor?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Good writers break complex themes down into simple terms. Bad writers complicate simple themes with unnecessary fluff to make it seem more clever than it actually is.

Time to welcome ARCANE of all things to the "Thought they were too big/beloved to fail" club. The "Lightning in a bottle" club.

"Has any TV series ever stuck the landing with this many main characters, time travel, supernatural abilities, technological inventions, fantasy world stakes, high concepts, complex relationships and global expectations?"
I'm pretty sure Justice League and Justice League Unlimited had all that.

Creator: I agree the show was rushed
He then goes to fume about people saying ships are underdeveloped.

... Huh?

Whoever Christian Linke is, I know now he absolutely sucks at writing as well as basic respectful communication and professionalism. Telling ppl that consume smth how it MADE THEM FEEL despite them claiming otherwise has historically always worked out well...

Remember when this show was GOOD?!

When it was above the bare minimum and TRULY delivered?!

I remember.
And I miss it.

So basically the writing team got shrunk to 3 people and two of the 3 people remaining weren’t even responsible for the bulk of the writing in season 1. They were just limited supervisors. Damn

Wait, so Rito got incredibly successful animated series on their hands, and they CUT that team? Truly, that's a move that only people with 200 years of combined LoL experience could've pull off.

Is there anything as undoing as an ego?

@DUKEzors 1 year ago (edited)

"CO*** happened" is code for Riot laid off or didn't fund the show because they made all the same mistakes other tech companies made in that timeframe.

With all their layoffs and project shutdowns, they have gone from a publishing/entertainment powerhouse back to a single game studio.
