You might not have noticed, but a few of the singers from the '90's and early 2000's, like Pepe Aguilar and Alejandro Fernández, are the children of the artists from the earlier decades. You mentioned Alejandro Fernández had a powerful voice. Well, his dad is Vicente.

Funny how you mentioned Jorge Negrete and Opera because yes, he was trained and started as an opera singer, love all these songs 🤍

Pedro Infante was the peak of all Mexican entertainment. He was an actor, singer, wrote all his movies himself, was as fit as a boxer and knew horseriding and use the lasso with mastery and even knew how to ride motorcycle and do tricks on them. He was a man of several traits. Even up to this day he's still praised by the public. I heard that a few years ago they placed one of his movies in a modern theater and the place wa full of people.

So about your opera comment. A lot of Mexican singers, especially the further back you go, are classically trained. That's why there's so many operatic elements to their voices.

Jose Jose's songs are all gold

I used to love those Mexican movies when I was a little girl. They use to play them in Puerto Rico and my grandfather would watch them every night.

15:48 Mana are a very well known Mexican rock band. 😊 they even participated in the fifa 2026 mexico inauguration

7:45 Chavela Vargas is from Costa Rica. She came to México in the 30's at a very young age due to hardship and family problems. At that time, it was the Golden Age of cinema and "música ranchera" (late 30s to 50s) which was optimal for new artists so she stayed, she found in México a home and in it's people a family. She adopted the mexican nationality and became an icon of musica ranchera. She is very well known for saying "los mexicanos nacemos donde se nos de la chingada gana" (mexicans are born wherever the fuck we want) given that there are a lot of people from other countries that come to México, fall in love and feel like they were always mexicans. And we love all of you mexicans born in another countries!

5:32 that horse riding style? Is call "charreria" and the rider is called "Charro"

You see them in mexican Rodeos, nacional Hollidays and parades.

Is a prowd mexican tradicion.

La Bamba is much older than that actually, Valens took an old Mexican folk song and made it modern. I don't know how much older generally but it was definitely something more mariachi based originally.

Jose Alfredo Jimenez's song "El Rey" is the song they play every time Mexico won at the World Cup. It says "And I'm still the King!" Jose Alfredo is probably the originator of the most iconic Mexican songs. That's why his name comes up a lot.

I would love to watch you react to Mexican rock bands like Caifanes, Mana, Zoe, Belanova, Aleks Syntek, even artist like Natalia Lafourcade who had that soft voice you mentioned! Glad to see you reacting to Mexican music again!

@Bleru 2 months ago

Yeah you should react to some of Natalia Lafourcade’s songs, she has one of the most special voice I’ve ever heard, I recommend you specially a song she did with Juan Gabriel called Ya no vivo por vivir

@Mae-D-v7i 2 months ago

La Bamba is a very old folk song from Vera Cruz area probably from the 1800. The version you played from a young man Richie Valenz. He modernized it.

@AysValle 2 months ago

9:31 Jose Alfredo Jiménez was actually a very known composer and songwriter during the 40s, 50s and 60s. And Armando Manzanero as well was a very well known ckmposer and songwriter, earning the nickname, El Maestro ( The teacher or thr master)

NATALIA LAFOURCADE Y THALIA❤

I am Mexican 🇲🇽, and I want to clarify:
- Selena was born in Texas (Her grandparents were Mexican, and singing in spanish benefited her career.)
- Chabela Vargas was born in Costa Rica (He moved to Mexico at the age of 14 and said, "We Mexicans are born wherever we damn well please.")
- Rocío Durcal was born in España (and benefited from his friendship with Juan Gabriel)
- "La bamba" It is a traditional son jarocho of anonymous authorship originating from Veracruz, Mexico, with roots dating back to the 17th century. The version heard in the video is a 1958 cover by Ritchie Valens, and the footage is from the biopic. (Chicana style and rock and roll)
México 🇲🇽 is diverse; it has changed and continues to serve as a platform in the Americas for artists from other countries. We have featured various musical genres, such as bolero, ranchera, mariachi, banda, Sonora-style bands, tropical, huapango, and, of course, pop and ballads etc.

I had the honor to hear Vicente Fernandez in concert. He didn’t need a microphone, his voice exploded from him and reverberated into you. I’ve never experienced anything like that. He sang until he stopped which was 4 in the morning! RIP one of the greats
