funny thing about huntsman spider is that if you run away from them they assume there’s something worse behind them so they follow you because they can’t comprehend that they’re what you’re running from 😅

Fun fact: anteaters claws are so dangerous that even jaguars are usually deciding they are not worth the risk. There have been findings of dead jaguars killed by anteaters.

The fact that Komodo dragons are venomous is a fairly recent discovery. In the early 2000’s, it was still the dominant theory that bacterial infection alone would kill their prey, but scientists questioned this, because even in a few weeks, a water buffalo’s strong immune system should not cave to a single infected bite wound, not without the animal already being compromised by blood loss. Really, komodos hunt the same way humans do, keep the prey on the run, weaken it a little at a time, and then go in for the kill. Since there is literally nowhere on the island that the dragon cannot smell their prey, they are in no rush to keep up.

4:10 that's called "shrink wrapping" in the paleorecreation business. It's luckily starting to fall out of favor as new techniques to determine their body shape more accurately are developed

4:57 😂 Crocodile gang beaten by hippos!

26:09 Anteater, maybe a silly looking fella, but that's a fella that can stand its ground against a jaguar that can easily kill a crocodile in the water

A couple reasons the Taipan venom is theorized to have developed to what it is: firstly, the rodentia of australia have some higher venom resistances than the average animal of their size, and secondly, if the venom kills a person in 15 minutes, think how fast it would kill a mouse; the faster the kill the less likely the snake gets hurt by struggling prey and less likely for prey to escape before death, therefore reducing the amount of energy the snake needs to expend on each meal, and less time vulnerable to predators themselves

Cone Snail venom isn't just a single toxin, it's hundreds of different Neurotoxins. And the toxins vary depending on the species of Cone Snail. And they target different receptors in the nervous system, so creating an antidote is practically impossible.

The Blue-Ringed Octopus is more dangerous than the Puffer Fish because the Puffer Fish venom can only get you if you eat their toxic organs while the Octopus just straight up injects venom into you.

Parz did exaggerate the timespan of the Komodo hunt. The constant bleeding alone is enough to greatly weaken the prey after only a couple of days, compounded by the blood poisoning from the infection. Komodos will also harass the prey to keep it moving around and bleeding more while denying it rest. It usually only takes three to five days for the prey to be incapacitated enough for the Komodo to move in for the kill. Also the smell of blood and decay attracts other Komodos.

8:02 you missed him saying that a week has already passed at 7:15 so it's actually already over 2 weeks of it walking after its prey

22:39 The reason cone snail venom can't have an antidote is because of how much poison it has.
What MoreParz failed to mention is it actually has several DOZEN toxins that it can shoot prey with, and each shot has a different level of each toxin. And it's hard as hell to make an antidote when the amount of each poison changes with each dosage.

Hippos are violent assholes. Worst part? They eat plants so they dont even eat you after crushing you! I mean damn!

I don't remember where i saw it but the Blue Ringed Octopus always stay in my mind because of the story of the person who got bitten in a beach and didn't die because of the efforts of life guards keeping them alive, but because they couldn't move a muscle they ended up completely blind because their eyes stayed forcefully open looking at the sun for the whole process. Some crazy stuff, if anything touches me in the ocean i am running to get help

The taipan's venom is so potent because its prey species have evolved immunities to some of the toxins, so the snake countered by having several different kinds, which means at least one will work.

8:04 its actually been a few weeks of waiting

To be fair, even if blue ring octopus has no legit counterplay (no anti-poison), you can save a life of a victim by calling the ambulance ASAP AND doing mouth-to-mouth breathing, literally breathing for two. It can be harder than all From Software titles at once (yes, souls series included despite their casuality) but you can actually save a life like this. Just a useful piece of information, you CAN work as your homie's lungs if he stopped to breathe. Just don't stop.
Take care everyone.

The biggest reason I keep Huntsmens around is because they actually deal with other spiders. Usually the spiders that actually can cause problems.

28:10 Actually, yes! A tiny spider doesn't have the bulk to jump its prey, so it has to rely on venom. A huntsman DOES have the bulk, so it doesn't need venom as potent. It's the small spiders (redbacks, funnelwebs, and whitetails come to mind) that are terrifyingly dangerous.
And yes, the huntsman is a big ass spider, but you know what it eats aside from flies? Smaller spiders. You know, the will-kill-you ones. So it's big, but it's protecting you! Like the spider version of a guard dog. Scary to others, but nice to you.
(Speaking as an Aussie, who is very used to having huntsmen in the house, and has been spared a bite from a redback, whitetail, or funnelweb thus far)

So much neurotoxin in australia that glados would blush if she saw it

About the video clips Parz used for his komodo dragon video, I recall the source. It was a TV documentary. And you could see in the bufallo's eyes once it had collapsed and the komodo was approaching, that buffallo had given up surviving. You could see in his eyes a "please finish me".

And yeah, it's a weeks long infection. When the komodo attacks you, it has its stomach full from a previous meal and is merely preparing next meal in advance. Like Gordon Ramsay going to the kitchen at noon for the dinner service.
