Recently, the United States justice system filed new charges against Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, accusing them of having ties to Colombian drug trafficking organizations, such as the FARC and the ELN.
In an interview with NTN24, retired Major General Luis Mendieta, who was kidnapped by the FARC, analyzed these links between the Chavista dictatorship and Colombian illegal armed groups.
“This situation is not new. It dates back more than 30 years, during which there was this relationship between Venezuelan government officials and members of the FARC and ELN,” he stated.
Regarding his years in captivity, Mendieta added: “The FARC members themselves brought us Venezuelan products for our consumption.”
